I imagine that if White Diamond made the rest of them, she's bee offscreen so much because she's trying to R Emake Pink.

I'd think that the Diamonds' origins are the Gems' origins.
My own theory is they're originally a Servant Race that overthrew or outlived their masters and carry on the only way they know how.
Yes. My Servant Race theory aside, nothing really suggests anything but Gems, if I'm understanding you right.
The Diamonds are the Gem leadership. Two scenarios I can imagine right offhand is they existed then made other Gems or Gems existed and created the Diamonds to be their leaders. The latter is more about the origin of Gem society than the race but still can act as an origin story.

That would be a great explanation, should there ever be one.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Hey, finally decided to get caught up after the space arc. Here're my thoughts on each episode.
The New Crystal Gems: It was nice to finally get to see Connie interacting with Peridot and Lapis. Pumpkin's quite an endearing scamp. It was fun trying to see them mimic the Crystal Gems, (I couldn't help but notice that nobody wanted to be Pearl) especially Connie's halfhearted attempt at bringing the team together. I really would've preferred to see them come together by fighting a monster, not building a sign.
Storm in a Room: Steven's timid reaction to finally "meeting" his mom was adorable. The rest of the episode less so. I know that Steven's always been conflicted in regards to his mom, but I didn't realize he was holding in that much resentment. Earlier in the show, I had sometimes questioned if Rose really considered how her absence would affect her loved ones, so it's gratifying to hear Steven voice the same question. While it was a nice episode, I can't help but feel like Steven's issues regarding how he compares to his mom and how the Gems see him are getting a little reptitive. It makes sense that it would be an issue that persists for the majority of the show, and this episode does show just how much Steven is being affected by his doubts, but...I don't know. Maybe it's because the episode was solely focused on Steven's problems that it felt like it was rehashing a lot of the same stuff.
Rocknaldo: Eh, didn't care for this one. Not only does it feel pointless, I think it would've worked better as an episode revolving around Ronaldo genuinely trying to understand what the Gems are about, rather than parodying hypocritical fanboys.
Tiger Philanthropist: Yeah, not sure what the point of this episode was. It's been ages since the original, and I don't recall Amethyst and Steven's wrestling career being mentioned much throughout the show. Was it ever mentioned after that first episode? This is one episode that I would argue fairly qualifies as filler, because I don't feel that it developed the characters at all. It really seemed more like the writers wanted to express their thoughts on trying to please people and how your passion for a creative endeavor can decline rather than write something particularly relevant to the characters. I did like the line "I don't even know what I want for breakfast half of the time!"
Room for Ruby: I thought Ruby was a bit of an Obvious Judas in this episode, based on how quickly she was to ask to stay on Earth. I suppose the contrast between her and Lapis was amusing, but this episode just made me feel more frustrated at how disinterested the writers seem to be in giving Lapis any kind of character arc. She talks about how hard it was for her to adjust to Earth, but we only got to see that for one episode. Since then, her main role in the series has been to provide a few snarky lines every once in awhile. I at least hope her dismay at how quickly Ruby was to accept them hints that she still hasn't fully forgiven Peridot, even if she doesn't bring up their previous issues. It reminds me of how the Thanksgiving episode showed that she was still bitter over her imprisonment in the mirror, and it's going to be very disappointing if all of this doesn't come to a head at some point.
Lion 4: I think I can see why people were peeved about this episode. They tease a big reveal from Rose, only for it to turn out to be nothing. At least the audience can relate to Steven's frustration at being unable to find answers. I suppose this episode wasn't entirely useless, since people have wondered whether Rose had a specific purpose in mind for Steven, or if she just wanted to create a human being. This episode lends a lot of credence to the latter.
Doug Out: While this wasn't a very noteworthy episode overall, I still enjoyed it because it's a plot we haven't seen before in the series, and Doug's never gotten much character focus. This episode was when I realized that this was another batch of episodes where the Crystal Gems got screwed over for screentime. I understand the show's current format of having a few arc-based episodes followed by a few Beach City episodes, but I feel they could be doing a better job of managing how much screen team the original team gets.
The Good Lars: I actually enjoyed this episode. It seems like some of Lars' character development has finally stuck, since he's still dealing with his insecurities without being a jerk about it. Bit of a disappointing ending, assuming Lars' absence was involuntary. Hopefully they're setting him up for long term character growth, instead of forgetting about him for another season.
Are You My Dad: Very intriguing episode. None of the previous Gems have ever targeted the humans of Beach City directly before, so this is a new threat. While Holly Agate felt like a generic snob character, these two newcomers look like they'll be distinctive additions to the cast. Nice ending music, too.
I Am My Mom: Well, that was a rollercoaster of an episode. Fantastic callback to the first time Steven talked to Peridot. I appreciate the fact that part of the reason the Gems weren't able to stop the new guys is because they didn't want to hurt the Beach City populace, as opposed to them just being completely outclassed by a new villain. Also interesting to find out that Diamond Authority apparently doesn't care about any Crystal Gem besides Rose. It does kind of feel like they've been getting sidelined lately in regards to fighting off Homeworld threats. Regardless of how the next arc plays out, I hope it won't be long before we really get to see the whole team in action again.
Now to catch up with the rest of this thread.
Remember Pearl's Secret Rap Career
? Pretty soon we'll have the sequel:
Steven's Secret Rap Career
... featuring new recordings (presumably including rapping) from Zach Callison himself.
You can't make this shit up.
