Plus, in Aliens you have Lowered Monster Difficulty. Which is not to say that the Xenomorphs aren't dangerous, but they're dangerous because they have numbers, not because they're almost invincible and utterly sadistic.
To bring it back to Steven Universe, Jasper is established as A) about as powerful as Garnet, the strongest Crystal Gem, and B) zealous and determined to the point of fanaticism. So even though Jasper never wins, she's still dangerous, and only beaten at great cost. If we ever see a bunch of other Jaspers show up and the Crystal Gems tear right through them, that would be a letdown.
It definitely looks like Steven's "destiny" is going to be more of a diplomatic one than that of a warrior. I can see that being the part of the show that gets kind of messy, and splits the fanbase because that's a complicated subject to tackle. And a lot of people will have different opinions on how we should react to / deal with characters that are basically dictators.

There's yet another promo out, which is very tonally different than the other two (suspiciously so; "No need to worry~"?). Several of the clips seem to be from "The Good Lars". In fact, it came out at least four days ago.
I can only find the Portuguese subbed version for some reason. Maybe the promo only aired there?
Cool, it's been too long.

Nah. Most people associate the Xenomorphs with the ant-like hive creatures of Aliens, rather than the sadistic monster of the original film. Not sure I want to go to deep into that in this thread, but the imagery is obvious. And Lambert's death.
Not saying that Aliens is an inferior film, just that its portrayal of the alien is more ingrained. That said, it being more ingrained can cause people to miss other portrayals of the alien.
But agreed. There is almost so much you can do with the same villain - though we see the same villains all the time, just wrapped differently.
