i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessWhy would you need a prison for Gem shards?
And I doubt no Gems were broken on Homeworld's side, even if it's not what the Crystal Gems would prefer to do.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. The difference is that they are now part of a much smaller group with a different set of objections and a different leader, they didn't see a need for Peridot because they didn't see need for additional crystal gems in order to fight off Homeworld's forces, only Steven decided to free her because of information she had on the cluster, and being related to Rose it makes sense that he would share her compassion
When they were fighting the war Rose probably did what Steven did many times over, and gradually built up an army to fight for her, prisoners they captured after they reached a significant number were likely handled in similar way but not by Rose but using her methods
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverHmm... I think that The Corruption as launched by the Diamonds could be blocked by certain barriers beyond Rose's shield - my guess is that the prison setup on Lapis' mirror was a block to prevent any energy going in either direction, so that mirror saved Lapis. Also, I guess tons of rock also could prevent it, which is why unemerged Amethyst was fine. Also, Bismuth was not only bubbled, but bubbled in an extradimensional space, so that's why she was safe from it.
Slightly related, I have wondered about what if there was another gem that escaped (maybe being deep underground) and decided to completely go to ground. What would happen if such a gem met the Crystal Gems today? (I can only imagine how much fanfic exists based on this idea.)
As for what other characters would think of The Corruption if they knew the details...
Well, I'm sure Steven is going to learn more details, and he's going to be suitably horrified. I can see him giving a full Kirk Summation to the Diamonds when he gets a chance.
I presume Amethyst was actually given the details some time in the last 5000 years, so I imagine her reaction was just pure shock, and maybe fear.
I kind of wonder if Lapis knows about it; I guess it depends on whether anyone was caught by it near the galaxy warp when she was still trapped. My personal guess is that she doesn't; I kind of question why she'd have wanted to go to Homeworld in the first place if she knew they'd do something like that. Then again, there is the Fridge Logic about the fact that Lapis did want to go to the planet of the people who unjustly tortured and imprisoned her - early Lapis was all kinds of messed up by her experiences.
I suspect that Peridot would have undergone her Heel–Face Turn more rapidly if she had known about The Corruption. She would have found the idea of such collateral damage extremely wasteful. Of course, I think today's Peri would just find it disgusting (kinda how she reacted to Jasper being corrupted), but it would just reinforce her currently held opinions. She probably would handle it best of all the heroes.
Connie, I bet, would react similar to Steven - a mix of scared, disgusted, and horrified. She probably would also be the one most likely to have a very awful Fridge Horror moment - who's to say that Homeworld couldn't figure out how to corrupt other life forms... and, in fact, maybe that's why the human zoo exists, for Homeworld experiments on human corruption.
Flipping over to Homeworld forces, I bet Jasper would just have been "You got what's coming to you... you should have been strong, like me!" She probably would use corruption as proof that she's really that great, because she avoided it... well, until she didn't. Oops.
Yellow Diamond's Ruby Squad, though, I bet they would just be all "Yeah, show those Crystal Gems who's boss! Use it!" Little jerks.

"Where's Rose?"
Garnet:"She's here" *points to Steven*
THAT'S NOT ROSE YOU'RE LYING YOU CAN'T MANIPULATE ME
edit to serious post:Any returning Crystal Gem would seriously question Rose's absence,as far they were probably concerned she was the rebellion, and the idea that she's now Steven may be a little difficult for them to accept and it would take some convincing.
Also I 'd like to think there are actually uncorrected Crystal Gems inside the Earth's soil just waiting to reemerge after laying dormant for thousands of years, maybe they need a signal. Also remember that line about sending the Rubies to Neptune? I would love it if turned out that actually were some were hiding on Neptune this whole time

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverDang, now I want a Journey to the Center of the Earth -esque episode with corrupted gem dinosaurs.
That's an odd album image, though very cool looking. And Volume 1... I wonder how many seasons worth of songs that will have?
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.> corrupted gem dinosaurs.
which were previously Amber gems! The episode practically writes itself, you could even throw in references to The Core and Jurassic Park
Now I'm wondering what roles other organic gems likely play in Gem society,we know that Pearls are servants to high ranking gems and Diamonds,I don't suppose they are quite as numerous as say Amethysts or Jaspers, but I can see Ambers ,Copals and Jets being included somewhere
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI point out that Bismuth IRL is infamous for its low melting point, but Gem!Bismuth can work incredibly close to lava.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.@48536 That's hardly the only case of there being irony between a gem's capabilities and what the real world gem is capable of. In real life, lapis lazuli are water-soluble (which is the origin of the True Blue Femininity trope, as detailed on that trope page).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.![]()
He meant a gem made of ice.
And peridots are unstable on Earth's surface because they chemically react with water (in liquid form or in the atmosphere). Sure, it's metaphorically meaningful in terms of Peridot's time on Earth, but there's no sign that Peridot's gem will ever turn into serpentinite
.
Might be something a bit out of left field.
Ruby's fire combines with Sapphire's ice to make Garnet's electricity.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersSerpentinite is the material, a gem made of it is called a "serpentine". It's like how Peridot said she was made of peridotite.
It's appropriate in that sense, but also inappropriately edgey. Which kind of makes me like it more? Especially since the word always makes me think of someone yelling "Serpentine!"
Hmm... one thing about Peridot's ferrokinesis (which I've never liked as a term, but the term is older than I am, so I just have to deal - I'd prefer metallokinesis) is that Peridot can't really change the metal that she moves around; she can just move it. Meanwhile, Lapis can manipulate water to take the form she desires. My suspicion is that a Peri-Lapis fusion would gain the ability to manipulate the shape of metal in addition to simply just moving it. Though that would be a near-Game-Breaker power... which might be why the two haven't fused yet; the showrunners are saving it for a major battle.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.

I know, but the gems in question would rather die then be sent to Rose's bubble dungeon,so they go down fighting instead being bubbled
edit:I should have made it clear that I did intend to suggest that the Crystal Gems side would intentionally shatter gems that refused to submit,
