Oh my god, I just looked up 'Steven Universe Animorphs' on a whim and I found exactly one one-shot fanfiction, and the concept is "What if Connie was a Controller and Steven found out when they first fused into Stevonnie" and it was so good. I mean, Connie's Yeerk acted a tad out-of-character, but it was still so good and my mind is now stuck on this idea and the potential it has.

A popular children's book series about a group of kids who gain the power to transform into animals by a dying alien, and use them to fight an alien invasion of parasitic slugs who can take control of other people's bodies and use them as their own.
It's actually pretty damn dark, from what I understand.

Oh God! Natural light! It starts very lighthearted, then slowly and steadily becomes darker and more somber as the war catches up with everyone.
And even so, the Big Bad Visser Three acts like a Saturday morning cartoon villain all the way through, it's just that the series never pretends that being incompetent and childish doesn't mean he's and the great power he has at his disposal aren't horribly dangerous.
It's like, he has a horrible temper, which is fun, until he starts beheading his subordinates, which is not Played for Laughs.
Oh that,right,
I imagine being on Earth itself would effect Yellow Diamond in the same way that visiting a place where you have had traumatic experiences will cause a flood of bad memories to surface ,you can't keep emotions behind a steely resolve forever,it's bound to come out. The trauma of losing Pink Diamond and the war probably may not make her crying mess like Blue Diamond, but it's bound cause her intense amounts of regret, anger and frustration because she's the one in charge of their armies and it was the one where they lost so much
Maybe even fear?
edit:I'm basing off the fact that the show makes it's villains sympathetic and not just Complete Monsters,so it would surprise me they did things differently here and made her completely unfeeling over something that lasted thousands of years

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
Alternately, Greg being kidnapped took him out of the frame of mind to use that power.
I've thought of two related questions about the Diamond's corruption weapon:
- Why DIDN'T they use it earlier? You could say Pink's shattering was crossing the Godzilla Threshold, but it's now clear the corruption wave did not diminish Earth's value to Homeworld. They could have evacuated their own forces without a rush, used it, come back to Earth, and easily taken down the corrupted Crystal Gems. Maybe we'll get an answer once we know more about the weapon itself.
- (I may have brought this up before.) Only gems currently formed seemed to be corrupted, hence Lapis, Amethyst, and Bismuth were not corrupted. While Homeworld didn't seem to usually take prisoners, the Crystal Gems clearly did, and they'd logically have not been corrupted either. So what happened to them? This one I kind of don't expect to ever be explained.

I think I can explain 2, during the course of the war they likely ended up recruiting the gems they captured, hence why the revolution got so big, gems they likely couldn't capture ended up being shattered though
It's unlikely since the Crystal Gems are the good guys but there could be a super top secret Crystal Gem prison where all their prisoners from the war were sent, like a temple for uncorrupted gems

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.

Their super advanced spaceships are their biggest advantage naturally, and yeah it makes sense that they wouldn't want to destroy planets where they would likely get a steady supply of resources, but their lack of firearms does surprise me,might be a censorship thing or conscience decision that for whatever reason Gems don't use ranged weapons unless it's on their ships.
It would be really cool though to see the conflicts the gem empire causes on other worlds but the focus on Earth and Crystal Gems means that's unlikely,it's the sort of thing that appears during a final when they have a longer episode then normal and much bigger budget.
Also, they do have diplomats like Sapphires so that does sort of confirm that they have to do diplomacy talks with someone else out there without having to show it.
