And in fairness, one of those secret places was also known to Pearl.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersJasper at Beta was a bit like Coronel Kurtz and his Montagnards. It was very Heart Of Darkness.
Come to think of it, there might be a fanfic there.
> Jasper went so far off-mission, she basically committed treason. You might think that was because no one was watching, but I don't think she cared about that. She was completely serious when she said failure to serve the Diamonds was unforgivable. I think she's done this kind of thing regularly and openly, but her fame and power have insulated her from punishment.
This got me thinking,Homeworld may not see whats happening on Earth, but they might well hear about what's going on thanks to radio and TV broadcasts travelling through space,of course they would need radio telescopes or something,so I feel the Crystals Gems's reluctance to engage with the humans of beach city is probably justified.
But yeah,Jasper basically went AWOL but the Diamonds would definitely overlook the violation of orders if it meant finally capturing their hated enemies and their leader however, since their concern was the cluster they might give Jasper some minor reprimand,I can't see them really punishing Jasper at all in this scenario. Since Jasper actually failed her mission entirely (No Rose,no crystal gems and No Cluster) then even her celebrity status would not save her from her superior's wroth

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverJasper felt that Yellow Diamond would REALLY want to know about the whole Rose=Steven thing. At that point she made a command decision, which was in her power to do. So she wasn't committing treason or anything. Now, after she got released from the Malachite fusion she went native and started building her corrupted Gem army. That was definitely not in her original mission perimeters, but it's not like she had a way to go back to Homeworld and report to Yellow Diamond. Despite this she was still loyal to Yellow. I mean she never did anything treasonous. Unless you count fusing with a different type of Gem treasonous. Not sure how Yellow would have felt about that part.

Beyond merely raising suspicions it would blow their cover,it's hard to do a rescue mission when at least on them is known fugitive, word is bound to have gotten around about that one peridot going rogue, the Diamonds would definitely recognise her limb enhancers or not

Although I figure the real reason Peridot didn't go is because she didn't want to. She's just settling in on Earth and facing the culture that can never be hers again could be a tough thing to weather so soon into her new life.
Plus she made sure Lapis would be okay to be left alone when she thought she was visiting a kindergarten for under an hour. Leaving her alone for much longer is maybe something she wouldn't want to do.
Doylistically, everyone of the people that went already had a sort of character moment. Adding another character might be too much and the CGs plus Steven are the main characters
There's no harm in wanting episodes to go another way though. And they are right that if the writers had wanted to have Peridot on the mission she would have been.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersPlus someone needed to watch Beach City Just In Case.
There are still gem zombies and corrupted gems out there, probably.
Forever liveblogging the Avengersimage Because they’ve both been acting more like superpowered children more than anything lately. Way more than any of the other gems we see.
And then in Room for Ruby, we see Lapis and Peridot lose the ship?
Like… Dude.
I’m not trying to hate on these episodes bc I still enjoyed them and do think they have good points as well, but lately, it just feels like the crewniverse has been pegging Peridot and Lapis as really incompetent.
I mean, I'm fine with shows like that when that's what the show is about. But when you set up the show to have characters growing, and then you just don't let them, it kind of goes against what you want from the show in a negative way.

I still prefer Garnet as leader... that said, given that he's Rose's son, I totally can see the Crystal Gems treating Steven as leader-in-training.
Honestly, I have no problem with the idea that Rose stashed stuff for Steven all over. Between being able to use warps all by herself and the fact that she could get Greg to help her out, Rose had tons of opportunities to hide stuff all over even just in the short span (well, short compared to a gem's nigh-infinite lifespan) between meeting Greg and birthing Steven.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.
