It seems to stem from their actions regarding the Rubies and Navy.
"It's very...disheartening for the Crystal Gems, who are seen as "heroes", not go back and rescue the Rubies from space. This is especially sad since Steven didn't even bother to keep up with his promise to rescue them."
"And the fact the the reason behind Navy's betrayal is because of what Steven and the Crystal Gems did to her and her crew. Yes, Steven and the CGs are the supposed heroes of the story, but the Rubies only came to Earth to retrieve Jasper, not to harm anyone. And then they were tricked and deceived repeatedly, right before being blasted out into the empty void of space, with the risk of getting shattered thanks to a passing asteroid. This is one of the sad cases in which Steven getting betrayed is his own fault.
"More sad is the rewatch when you see Navy getting up at the first time, the first expression she mades speaks pure trauma and anger towards the ones who make her life a living hell since they meet."

I'm going to return to the subject of Rose's videotape for a moment because it's bothering me.First of all why go to the trouble of making the tape then have it hidden away from your closest allies? I know she's most likely wanted Steven to find the tape but hiding it in a place where he could have died from a lack of oxygen strikes me as a little stupid unless it was a genuine oversight on her part of course,
And at some point between being pregnant and turning into Steven she found time to find Lion and leave those things there for him to find, all without the gems discovering Lion's existence at all, unless Rose has another way accessing Lion's dimension without going into his mane.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Also, that article seems to be unreliable for fine details—for one thing it mentions Steven Universe being renewed as being restated, but the article it links makes no mention of such (and is from last month).
I don't expect Levin and Burnett to stay on as head writers for Steven Universe while acting as show runners for a different show—even for two people that's probably too much—but they may not have actually left yet. The show's greenlit, it may be a while until production is in full swing.
For curiosity's sake, how would Homeworld Gems react to the Diamonds shattering "perfect" Gems because they have no need for them anymore?
I imagine they'd be horrified but I see that as Oo C for the Diamonds unless there's another crime going on.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.If the Diamonds killed Jasper, the Homeworld gems' reaction would obviously depend on what their stated reason was.
"They have no need for them anymore" is really vague. Do you mean they think she was completely useless to them? That's obviously not true. I could see them deciding Jasper's strength is not enough to tolerate her insubordination to Diamonds besides Pink.
But Eyeball's idolization of Jasper makes me think some gems would be upset at her execution even if the Diamonds had a completely legitimate reason to have her killed.
Jasper went so far off-mission, she basically committed treason. You might think that was because no one was watching, but I don't think she cared about that. She was completely serious when she said failure to serve the Diamonds was unforgivable. I think she's done this kind of thing regularly and openly, but her fame and power have insulated her from punishment.
A second source on the next year of CN programming
: It does not mention Steven Universe being renewed for more episodes, just that the show will have new episodes throughout the next year (which we essentially knew back in July 2015). If the show is going past five season remains uncertain, and I reiterate that May 2017 is kind of the critical hour for that being decide.
As far as content in future episodes, we're just given the vague descriptions that "Friendships are tested" and "The show returns with new adventurous story arcs and specials, in which fans will meet more Gems, spend time with the Diamonds and gain insight into the ever-mysterious Gem Homeworld while the series’ titular hero Steven Universe will grow as a leader." Most of which has been happening for quite a while.

They are heros though, there's nothing designated about it
