This marks antagonist number 4 that decided not to accept Steven. At this point, I've written off the Ruby squad as ever siding with Steven (which is not to say they're completely evil), and I think they're being used as a stepping stone for future antagonists to not accept friendship or redemption.
Honestly it's kind of annoying to me how little Steven's diplomatic skills have been effective recently. Back in Season 3 it was necessary to show that you can't reach everyone the same way you reached Peridot and Lapis. Now I feel like this show is going too far in the cynical direction. Albeit I still think it's justified from the Rubies' perspective, but on a Doylist front I'm not sure this was the right move.

If this Sweet Ruby could've gone 2-ways, maybe the Newbie Ruby would've also been likely to join the CGs...
But Steven himself wasn't really trying here...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. In fairness to Steven, one of the first things Navy said after scream crashing to Earth was that the other Rubies were bullying her.
Going 'hey lets go reunite you with your bullies' is not what would be anyone's first impulse.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't think there's any reason we need a stepping stone for that, but I like the Rubies as they are. I don't see them joining the Crystal Gems either at this point.
Of course, there is the possibility that Homeworld will decide to leave Earth alone (Blue already wants to), which would mean they wouldn't really need to get redeemed.
And I want Jasper to join the team badly. Like, so much. My horrible orange trash queen. At least let her be a Team Pet or something!
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I'd think its gonna get worse before it gets better. For one thing:
- We have Yellow Diamond, who is likely to try to destroy Earth.
- We have Blue Diamond, who is likely to get pissed when she finds out that her recent "souvenir" has escaped
- We have the Zoo Crew, who are complicit in letting Greg escape (with their boss forced between Scylla and Charybdis as a result). If the Rubies wind up at the zoo, they might cause them to slip up.
- And now we have Navy, who has took back her ship, placing herself in a position to finding her squad and report to Yellow Diamond the hell that they had been put through.
Conclusion: I predict that the next time we see a Ruby (bar garnet unfusing), it will be where Yellow Diamond is, and they will set off a large scale invasion. Blue Diamond may or may take part in this, party in vengeance for Greg's rescue and partly because she might see it her duty to kill the Legacy of Pink Diamond's murderer (and the murderer themself).
Of course, all of this seems like series finale material. Only thing missing is White Diamond, and a cure for The Corruption that created the Gem Monsters (Because Bookends, and there would still be a forgotten plot thread otherwise).

YD won't try to destroy the Earth because they still believe that the Cluster is a thing in progress. So as long as they believe in that, the only thing they're going to Earth for is more hyoo-mans for the zoo.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Navy was creepy from beginning to end. In the end she was outright disturbing. Like, 'nauseating''.
I'm 100% with Lapis today.
And I love Lapidot: they're really starting to have something, those two.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Really? I thought she was cute and charming. Up until she was revealed to be a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, that is.
I guess my tolerance for cutesy happy-go-lucky types is just higher or something.
No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Everybody but Lapis was holding the Idiot Ball this episode, making it the best episode ever!
Edit:What exactly do the Rubies know though?

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI don't think a willingness to believe the best in people should be viewed as holding the idiot ball
It was worth trying. There wasn't no hope there
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGoing 'hey lets go reunite you with your bullies' is not what would be anyone's first impulse.
It was but also somehow perfectly tailored to be what Steven and Garnet wanted to hear

One thing I note is that for all the time Steven never just apologized to Navy and offered to find her squadmates with her. While Navy pretending to have no bitterness toward him was part of her ruse, I wonder if this episode would have gone differently if he acted genuinely remorseful. Garnet did say there was a chance she could have genuinely joined them.
