I assume that it must've been a good game...if the reveal of a sequel deserves that type of reaction.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersHey,so I have an observation and a theory
Gems are capable of imitating organic features such as a stomach ( Amethyst) or a womb (Rose) but as an inorganic lifeform they have no need for these, they have been rendered obsolete,so why are they capable of doing it anyway? I feel like these basic organic functions are evidence of a time when gems were organic, the fact they can imitate them means there's lines of code/DNA that all gems carry as dummy code,
Rose's shapeshifting of a womb is even weirder, I think when the Rose Quartzes were designed for the zoo they had fully functional lines of organic code, since caring for the zoomens at least required that they imitate the role of being their cargivers
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverBecause they're Hard Light projections that can naturally shape-shift, so shape-shifting functional internal organs isn't very farfetched?
Actually, can someone else handle the roughdrafts in general now? I started a new job, and so my free time is rare enough that I don't think I'll end up looking at leaks anymore.
@47701 Well, those organs weren't rendered obsolete - they were obsolete from the get-go.
That said, I don't think that the ability to make a functional internal organ via shapeshifting was actually a specific design intent for gems. It's pretty clear that gems have to be able to shapeshift to make some organs in the first place - in order to make a properly functioning eye, they had to shapeshift lenses, corneas, and all of the other parts. In order to be able to speak, they had to create a rudimentary bellows system (if not a full and proper set of lungs) to move air around so as to make it vibrate in a particular fashion. There's a few other basic things that gems had to be able to make in order to function even at the level of, say, your standard Homeworld gem.
I think that Rose and Amethyst are just extrapolating the ability to make those necessary organs and using it to make other organs - it's Not the Intended Use for their innate shapeshifting ability, but it's one that they find useful.
That actually leads me to wonder if there are limits to Peridot (being an Era 2 gem) and her ability to form those organs. We know that she can't do full-body shapeshifting like Amethyst because of inherent limitations, but she clearly has the ability to make some internal organs (she can see and speak... oh man, can she speak). However, it's probably fair to wonder if Peri could eat at all, even if she cared to.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I once had a wild theory that the very reason Gems have humanoid forms at all was because such creatures existed on the Gems' Homeworld in bygone, pre-spacefaring days. The idea is that the shapeshifting was an evolutionary necessity developed because a Gem by itself, no matter how sentient, can't do a whole lot.
Alternatively, Gems could've been an artificially created race that Turned Against Their Masters. I kind of like that theory more myself, since it goes a long way to explaining the Fantastic Caste System, the fact that they're ready made with their purposes already known, and also how very slowly Gems can change themselves emotionally/philosophically.

My theory is that Gems naturally evolved from sentient gemstones able to create holographic bodies. Maybe their origin was a quasar blasting into their planet of origin and supercharging some rocks, or something like that. Either way, their natural life cycle, stretched out over thousands of years, consisted of gems coming out of the ground, fully formed, exploring the world, finding good quarries and other good places to create gemstones, donating a small piece of themselves, and cultivating and growing 1-2 gems in a wide area over hundreds of years, over a long enough time span that it doesn't harm the surrounding environment.
The Gem society we see today is the product of a sense of gemetic perfectionism: as soon as they realized that they could affect the quality and purity of gemstone, they became obsessed, as a species, with perfecting their own gemetic structure and creating the perfect workers for each various task and job a sapient society demands.
It still says it's on at 7:00/6:00 Central on my guide.
EDIT: Fuck, apparently it is supposed to air on CN at 7:30/6:30 Central. I'll double check at the original air time, but I'm gonna be fucking pissed if it turns out to be CN rescheduling it so early.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Embed doesn't work.
I'm getting fucking tired of this. The show gets moved to Fridays and ratings go down, now they abruptly move it to half an hour later the day it's supposed to air. I don't wanna be conspiratorial and say CN is up to something, but it's giving me that impression.
