Lapis Happily.

I liked Lars' speech. Definitely seems to be directed at a lot of wrestling fans who either don't like the new gimmick or have just grown disillusioned in general. Friends I have that are fans have said it hits home for most of them.

At least Amethyst did what was best for business and put someone over on her way out. Too many wrestlers could stand to learn that lesson.

[up]Any video of that? I'd love to show it to a wrestling site I frequent.

Weird to say that this was a Lars episode when it felt more like a Steven and Amethyst episode. With Lars in a strong supporting role.

I expect to see a .gif of Lars being dragged out of the stadium a lot once this show is over.

It was nice to see Amethyst get some character development. Or more accurately it was nice that they acknowledged that she has gotten character development since "Tiger Millionaire." After fusing with Steven and beating Jasper, then meeting her family, she is now much more comfortable being herself.

I really have not been liking Season 4 since Three Gems and a Baby. Even the five part event was kinda meh (if still worth it for a lot of lore bombs and Yellow Diamond's song), and New Crystal Gems, Rocknaldo, Storm in the Room and now Tiger Philanthropist have been really weak, and then there were still really bad ones like Onion Gang and Future Boy Zoltron earlier in the season.

It's weird that SU used to be a show I viewed as consistently fantastic but has now hit some stumbling blocks, but I'm pretty sure the next two episodes are going to be fantastic.

Is "Room for Ruby" the next episode? Or is that the episode after the next episode? I forgot. In any case, that episode seems excited, because yay we get to see the Rubies again!

When we're done, there won't be anything left.

[up][up][up][up]I'd like to put an extreme to what you're saying.

Season 4 has yet to validate the existence of this show...more blunders lead to cancellation.

I feel like Season 4 was meant to be the opener for a new arc (with 1-3 being the first arc so to speak) but that fails to take into account how much Season 1 added. It explained a heck of a lot about how Gems work and how the cast interacts with each other. But Season 4 seems to have so much filler for filler's sake. I don't even think the majority of the episodes are bad, but so many of them feel like they didn't add anything new to the core characters or to the lore of the world.

I am starting to believe that it was a mistake to have this large of a tertiary cast. To give even a fraction of the side characters and episode is to take half a dozen episodes out to do that. What's worse is the frustrating tendency to not include any Gems but Steven in episodes focusing on these side characters, or relegating the other Gems to cameos.

I would disagree about Season Four having a lot of filler until I went to look at the episodes that have aired so far, and outside of the fantastic Out Of This World Arc, it's been fairly chill in terms of story advancement. Not bad, mind, and I do admit enjoying some of the filler episodes (Last One Out of Beach City, Know Your Fusion, hell I actually liked some of the episodes everyone else seems to have hated), but at the same time it's just been kind of...eh. The next two episodes set to air might change that, thankfully, but I think it might have to do with the show not really having a big threat looming around after Jasper and the Rubies were dealt with. This will probably change with whatever the hell the Diamonds are up to is revealed.

I know why people call episodes filler, but could we please stop using the word "filler" itself to describe them? It's not even the right definition!

...So what, we can only use it in the context of material in an adaptation that wasn't in the original?

I don't know, that seems overly pedantic.

It's a good definition.

I think what we're talking about here is better defined as "fluff".

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

While I do think that all episodes have some sort of importance, "fluff" is definitely better than "filler".

I think importance is difficult to gauge before the series is over - and even then, the importance of some episodes might not be immediately obvious.

Still, I think some episodes are more important than others, at least as far as the overall narrative is concerned.

Filler is always used as a negative term...and inaccurate.

Soooo...bad.

Fluff can be used in a neutral sense.
