Well it might not be
That's something people have to decide individually

Forever liveblogging the AvengersOr the message was "Steven Universe is not a stereotypically manly show, and you should watch something else if you're looking for that". I mean, sometimes I'm in the mood for Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, sometimes I'm in the mood for Steven Universe. Both have their strengths and weaknesses that are very different from each other.
Matt's a dick, but he's the best. Shame the Crewniverse doesn't interact that much anymore with the toxic cesspool that we call the Steven Universe fandom.
Also, obligatory "if picturing Andy as a stereotypical conservative makes it harder for you to sympathize with him as a character, you are absolutely the target audience for Gem Harvest" post.
EDIT: Also also, people are taking Matt's post WAAAAAAY out of context. He wasn't saying that Steven Universe is/isn't a dudebro show, it was a direct response to a stock "why no mael gems" question. His point is that there are hundreds of shows where the important male characters greatly outnumber the important female characters, and they are all perfectly good shows and movies, indeed many of them are some truly splendid works of art, but it says a lot about how we are as a society that a show that flips the trope and has most of its important characters as female (despite the rest of the supporting cast, including Greg who is arguably outside of Steven himself the emotional core of the entire show, being almost 50:50 split on gender) is suddenly an issue when the inverse has been the norm for as long as mankind has told stories.

Basically. He was saying "we shouldn't have to shoehorn male gems into our show for the sake of pandering to that part of the audience especially since I can easily name something else that would be right up your alley if you care about it that much", and deciding to put his foot down firmly to stem it. It's his show and his vision (well, all of theirs). Funny how that works.

Alley and Odder got it exactly right. What he's saying is that if you want a show about superpowered masculine men, you can watch pretty much literally almost anything else ever made. SU is one of the only shows I can name, period, that has a majority cast of female, queer and POC characters. So maybe yes, the show isn't for straight white men, but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy it and love it. We just need to accept that maybe there are other people in the world who also want to watch shows that portray them as the heroes, without needing a white man around to do the job.
It's been fun. It's not for straight white men...
But it can be for straight black men...
And in a way, isn't that just a little better?
Hearts grow.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm actually surprised ronaldo din't doubt the cristal gems again after he learned the are rock people, I mean, he already knows that the monsters come to beach city because of them, it seems weird he doesn't even try to ask them why is that, what is their agenda, what are they doing on earth, you know, that kind of thing.
I am conflicted on the Rocknaldo episode. On the one hand, it was the first SU episode that made me look away when I'm watching it simply because Ronaldo making an ass of himself is just that cringey.
On the other hand, it made an important distinction. Too many people think "love and tolerance" means "you never get to question me, ever". They react to being criticized with screaming "So you're INTOLERANT of me?!" and accusing you of hypocrisy. That's not how it works and it's the first time I've seen something make it this clear.

I did love how the episode addressed that latter part. Being "tolerant" doesn't mean you aren't allowed to question anyone ever. And it doesn't mean you can't stand up to someone who's being an asshole.

When we're done, there won't be anything left."Also, obligatory 'if picturing Andy as a stereotypical conservative makes it harder for you to sympathize with him as a character, you are absolutely the target audience for Gem Harvest' post."
You like the episode, fine, that's your right, I'm not gonna stop you. You're entitled to your opinion. But I've met people who were conservatives like Andy, and I can't sympathize with them, and I have every reason to.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? The U.S. political system is not a relevant topic of discussion in this thread.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

"This show is not for you."
