I like how Ronaldo took the picture for his pamphlet
from the Cartoon Network website.

I think its more important for episodes about fandoms to be like this. More 'don't be jerks' than 'oh fans are so wonderful the best oh no the fans are dead'
Even so, I didn't think much of this episode. Ronaldo is as insufferable as a ronaldo in a fandom would be.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSuper girly and feminine and friendly, always talking about togetherness and how you need to rely on each other, etc.
And I'm going to reiterate what I said a while ago: even if you're cringing, it's not Cringe Comedy when none of the characters are feeling awkward.

So it's just personal cringe...
That's good to know...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. This was actually my favorite Ronaldo episode yet. Partially because it ends with him doing something fruitful, and while Steven is a bit too accommodating, he's right that Ronaldo trying to do something IS good. Also Ronaldo being deprived of sleep amuses me.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI really enjoyed this episode. Ronaldo got quite a bit of development, and his interest in what's going on and efforts to help out and spread good words was nice. I loved that Connie appeared in the episode, since I was wondering if the reason the Gems were hesitant about Ronaldo was because he's Human, and I was worried that Connie was just forgotten about. Showing her in the episode established that Humans can totally become Crystal Gems, and the hesitation with Ronaldo was simply because of who he is.
I didn't see anything cringe-worthy whatsoever in this episode, and honestly, if you're the type of person who wants to be included in a group, only to act like you're the most important person in the group and you throw around No True Scotsman fallacies like Ronaldo did, you probably deserve to be called out on your shit.

Yeah, that had a useful lesson about how to be a good ally.
Also, the gems were great in the little they had, from Pearl's reactions to that pointless leap near the end.

Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).thatother1dude, I do not see that definition of Cringe Comedy in the trope itself. It says some Cringe Comedies do that, but also mentions that not all of them do.

I liked it. The show itself brings up all the traits fans have asked about him, and shows that he's as unpleasant and off-putting to Steven himself, but when he can be brought around to a thought process he understands, he does seem able to connect with others.
I think he has some kind of mental condition, but it's hard to say what, exactly that could be. Has trouble understanding other peoples' emotions, has a halting, stilted way of speaking, is very self-centered but doesn't mean to cause harm and has some knowledge of what right and wrong are when shown, and when it's something he's interested in, shows himself to be observant.
This episode was pretty cringy. It was basically 11 minutes of Ronaldo making an ass out of himself and watching Steven lose his patience and that just wasn't fun to see, especially since all the good metahumor was stuffed in the scenes without Ronaldo as the focus. I don't like premises that are so reliant on that structure (see: Liar Revealed stories), and it made the episode hard to dit through. Wad there a good medsage? Maybe? I mean it's hard to use nuance when you're working with Ronaldo and also making a statement on fandom culture, parodying conspiracy theorists, and playing into the fanbase at the same time.
It was a chore to sit through. There's definately some foreshadowing (mud dimension as an alt explaination to explain gems beyond solid light projections, gems in the body, something in the water supply) hidden in there but it just didn't feel very enjoyable.

I would love that.
It's the mind-control minerals that the Gems put in the water supply. It's the only explanation.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.I'm sure a lot of people have seen it by now, but Ronaldo made a post on KBCW
.
Yeah, it's hardly the worst thing Ronaldo said there.

Oh God! Natural light!

In all honesty, I liked the episode. I got a few laughs, Ronaldo got some Character Development, humans not noticing/caring about Gems actually got mentioned... I didn't think it was that bad.
