@47047 While it's obvious that "shatter" is a deliberate action meant to kill a gem, we aren't given context enough to demonstrate whether it's considered a generic term for the action along the lines of "kill" or if it implies motive and malice, like "murder." There are various story implications depending on whether "shatter" is generic or not - I think it's worth noting that the Crystal Gems (outside of Steven, who wouldn't know about any nuances in the term) explicitly avoid using the term "shatter" when they do talk about what Rose did to PD. And it's not like they're adverse to using the term - Ruby (and presumably, by extension, Garnet) has no problem calling BD a "shatterer," with the same level of contempt a human might use the word "murderer."
If "shatter" is a generic term for "kill," it's interesting because it shows how the Crystal Gems can't come to terms with the fact that Rose couldn't live up to her ideals. On the other hand, if "shatter" is more along the lines of "murder," then it suggests one of two things. One, that Rose really did murder PD but never told the details to the others, which furthers the "Rose kept too many secrets" issue thread that has been popping up ever since Lion first appeared. Two, that any violence against a Diamond, even in a battle scenario, is seen as "murder" by Homeworld, which further details what conditions are like there.
My suspicion is that "shatter" does mean "murder," and that the latter scenario is present, but we don't actually have enough detail yet to say that for sure.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. The utter seriousness in the way shattering is said and the contexts in which it is used, I think there's ample evidence to suggest it means exactly what it looks like, if not a bit worse. Heck Bismuth said she would have felt better if she were shattered instead, if only so she wouldn't have to know that she was betrayed. She even asks Steven to do it in her place.
Peridot says they'll all be shattered when the Cluster emerged, and Jasper's first response when finding Steven in the way of Lapis is an enraged "I'll shatter you!" Sounds crystal clear to me.
I liked it fine.
People who hated Ronaldo will probably still hate him, but I thought the way the Gems reacted to him was at least pretty funny.
Oh God! Natural light!Remember the scene in "The Message" where the Gems all jumped away and Steven tried to follow them but couldn't? Then in this episode they did the same thing and I thought "Now Steven can do the same thing! This will be a subtle way of showing how much he's grown!" But then Steven didn't and I was sad :(
...I don't understand why the worst human characters get the most episodes focused on them.
At least there was the slightest bit of Character Development for our (least) favorite conspiracy theorist.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

The logistics of Pink being Blue's 'daughter' or child would be difficult given what we know about Gems, but it does bring up an interesting parallel between Steven and Blue - they're both so defined by the people they've lost, both mother and child, and by the murder of Pink. Steven is having to wrestle with the idea of Rose as a murderer and with the knowledge that there's still so many sides to her that he doesn't know, and Blue's genuine sorrow for Pink's death makes it hard to just write her off as a tyrant that needed to die. I think a lot rides on how the shattering happened and why, and that a lot of things will be made clear once we've seen it.
It's been fun.
