I'm guessing next episode is going to be either a) Steven uses the room to play out several different scenarios based on his conflicted feeling, such as Rose is a pure hero and Pink Diamond is a monstrous tyrant, or Rose is utterly ruthless and Pink is naive about the suffering she causes. Or b) Rose's consciousness is given form and Rose and Steven have an actual conversation. Or c) it's not Rose, but only Steven's mental image of her.
I keep alternating between wanting Pink Diamond's death to be an epic fight between Rose and co. and Pink or wanting it to be more of an assassination or murder where Pink's guard put up more of a fight.
So, since Connie, Peridot, and Lapis (and Pumpkin I guess) have been established as Team B, I'm now doubting Jasper will be redeemed. And personally, I like it that way. Now, I don't think she'll stay corrupted or in a bubble, but the closest she get to Steven and the Gems is "not actively hostile." She'll end the series going back to Homeworld, healed but still emotionally broken, not sure what to do with herself without the Diamonds (who will be out of the picture) and their castes. But alive and free, and there is hope in that. Wherever Homeworld goes without the Diamonds, and it might very well go to shit for a while, Jasper will be at the center of it.
On how Lapis and Peridot acted in "The New Crystal Gems", the only thing that seemed strange was how they acted with each other. The last couple times we'd seen them together they were really in-sync. Here they're still clearly friends, but their relationship suddenly seems much more vitriolic and prone to argument.
I feel like calling this implausible or out-of-character is pigeonholing their relationship to always be the same, but it's still an obvious difference coincident with different writers. I guess this sort of thing is inevitable when a bunch of the supporting cast, or the relationship between two of them, seem pretty heavily tied to specific storyboarders.
Yeah I feel Steven just guessing what happened would deprive us of a vital lore episode.

Characters being mostly used by specific writers just seems like a bad idea...
That kind of thing requires a split in the work load, so the differences in characterization aren't as apparent...

Eh, it was a Raven and Paul-boarded episode. They always make the characters look a little funky.
I still liked Peek A Bangs Lapis, though.
When Peridot and Lapis are written and directed well, Lapis' Deadpan Snarker tendencies are hilarious and grounding, and Peridot is over-the-top and loud, but in a way that betrays her Inferiority Superiority Complex and the things she says are charmingly irreverent. When they're not written and directed well, Lapis comes off as mean-spirited and rude, while Peridot is the most annoying and abrasive thing to ever walk the Earth. This episode leaned a little more towards the latter than the former.
I kinda liked this episode, but yeah, it's not one of the better ones. I do wish they'd get a bit better at writing Peridot and Lapis's interactions some, since this is probably one of the weakest episodes with either of them in it. I had to admit, though (and I'm surprised nobody brought this up here, unless I missed it), Lapis doing little impressions of Amethyst and Garnet as kind of funny.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I assume that Peridot wanted Lapis to be Amethyst because she fancies them both
But Lapis is notable for having a sense of humor. Just a very different one than Amethyst I think. Also fart jokes
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI think it's less about status anymore and more she sees Pearl as uptight and over sensitive which is not how Peridot wants to be seen

Don't mess with Peridot.
