Well of course, no one was tall enough...
So they gave her role to the shortest of the "B - Team"...
Irony or something.

Fan-service, woot.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It wasn't my favorite episode, but I think they were perfectly in character. Peridot has always been full of herself, and this isn't the first time she's tried to declare herself the leader of the gems.
And as for Lapis, this is our first time seeing how she acts without Steven around, which provides a lot of insight into her character.
TBF, I can't imagine Steven would be all that comfortable sharing a ship with someone who literally tried to disembowel him the last time they saw each other.
They could rescue all the Rubies except Eyeball, but that would just be kind of awkward. I dunno.
In regards to the latest episode, I do agree that Peridot and Lapis were kind of obnoxious, which is a shame since Peridot is normally my favorite character. But I do like that Connie learned a pretty valuable lesson- namely, that being The Heart of the team isn't as easy as it looks.

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!I didn't have a problem with it, since yeah, Gems are still pretty jerkish to humans, and most of Peridot and Lapis' interactions have either been with other Gems or the half-human Steven, who still has Gem abilities.
Gems aren't always cuddly, and I think it's a nice reminder of that. Also they've not had the character development the other Crystal Gems have had in coming to grips with humans.
You can make the gems not be cuddly towards human and not be annoying about it/.
I felt this episode really exaggerated Lapis and Peridot traits. Especially Peridot. Could we have one scene without her being a forced comic relief that relies on yelling, please?
As for Lapis, I feel the writers have no idea where to take her character, it's pretty disappointing.
That's because you get some writers, like Zuke and Flordio, who want Lapis to be Peridot's girlfriend, while you have others, like Sugar, who want to depict her as a very complicated person who has a tendency to manipulate people.
(Before anyone accuses me of making shit up, thats based on exactly how Sugar and Zuke have said they view Lapis)
As much character development as Steven's gotten since the show started, and there's been quite a bit, I think it's Connie who has actually grown more as a character.
I'm sure this episode is setting up a future episode where the day has to be saved by the Crystal Temps. And I am looking forward to it.

Yeah she was depressed, morose, bitter, she lashed out at Peridot over her grudge but still stepped up to protect her from the Rubies. She was showing symptoms of her PTSD but still seemed to be trying to manage it.
Here she just seemed like an asshole and not much else, and it's especially weird that she broke down in guilt over how she hurt Greg, but is perfectly okay with being confronted with someone she nearly killed. The only sorta good thing about this ep was Peridot showing off her "old room" to Lapis.
I'm gonna need a link on the manipulating thing because that's not something she's actually done during the entire series.

It would be your mistake for assuming Veggie-head was suppose to be the name...
It was only said once...
