From the way she kept slipping up and dropping hints I figure she was seeing so many Bad Ends that she didn't know what to tell him
From the initial Future Vision episode it seems there's wiggle. Telling him the truth or to just wait a couple days could have avoided this whole mess. Or it could have prompted him to go anywhere with how nettled he was at stuff being kept from him.
Not to mention BD is obviously a huge sore spot for her
She panicked.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI also got the "the thought of Blue Diamond sent Garnet into a complete panic" vibe. We are talking about the gem that not only was commanding Garnet to never exist again, but to shatter one half of her. And Garnet clearly believes that Blue Diamond, if she really put her efforts to it, would be able to do it (there's a reason why, in "The Answer," Sapphire's response to BD's command was to book). And if there's one rule that's frequently true across both Real Life and all forms of fiction, panicked people make mistakes. Poor Garnet just fell victim to it there.
As for Lars, even if we assume that Lars does know Spanish (I mean, I've met quite a few Filipinos who do speak Spanish if that's his ethnicity, but even that's assuming that the child has bothered to learn the native language of their parents, which isn't a guarantee), Lars doesn't strike me as the type who'd even bother teaching Steven (their friendship isn't exactly the thickest).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.I wonder if that Armship was loaded with gems waiting for deployment at a moment's notice, which is probably how Garnet saw them being captured,or Garnet saw that Blue Diamond and her Pearl (that would be a first, Pearl vs Pearl) were formidable enough capture them all

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It wouldn't have to be, really. It's shown that Blue Diamond's ship is capable of going across vast distances extremely fast (probably because whoever's in charge of actually piloting it knows all the ins and outs of using it, unlike what happened in "Adventures in Light Distortion"). As is, while it's not exactly clear how much time has passed in this arc, I don't think it's any more than 24 hours (which was apparently enough time for Blue Diamond to go to the Zoo, process Greg, leave, and come back, based on what Holly Blue said about BD's return). Presumably, if someone wanted to roll up to Earth with a squadron or two of quartzes to scour Earth for the Crystal Gems, they could do so as quickly as it would take someone to load said quartzes into Blue Diamond's ship.
Though there probably is an honor guard or the like back on the armship - most rulers do travel with bodyguards, after all - I think they'd only carry around actual forces if they were expecting combat, and Blue Diamond was clearly just doing a personal visit when she arrived on Earth (after all, they don't have any reason to think that there are any Crystal Gems left).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Between how Yellow Pearl acted in "Message Received," what we've seen of Blue Pearl in "The Answer" and this arc so far, and how Holly Blue treated Crystal Gem Pearl, I think the general roles for Pearls are handmaiden or majordomo. Crystal Gem Pearl's skills are probably the gem equivalent of a Battle Butler.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. This isn't related to the current arc, but a thought occurred. Jasper knew about the Cluster, yet after unfusing as malachite she didn't seem at all worried that the Cluster was going to emerge and destroy Earth. And it's not like she really had any way of knowing that it got bubbled. Yet she goes on building an army anyway. We know from Blue Diamond's appearance here that the Cluster emerged, or would have emerged, ahead of schedule, but Jasper was still on a doomed planet.
Actually, do we have any idea if the Cluster was to have any physical effect on a gem? I mean, we now know that a gem can survive just fine in the vacuum of space (as seen by Yellow Diamond's Ruby squad, even if they weren't exactly comfortable out there). Sure, lots of debris would have been kicked up by the Earth-Shattering Kaboom, but a gem with protection (and Jasper was pretty well set to protect herself from shattering, given that her weapon also functioned as armor and right by her gem, no less) could potentially avoid it. My guess is that Jasper didn't know much about the Cluster (she seemed pretty disinterested in it during "Jail Break") and was just planning on riding it out and hoping to get picked up after the fact.
EDIT: Slightly related to the above, I think the closest we had to any knowledge about when the Cluster was to emerge was Peridot's "on schedule" comment from "Message Received" - and even that is implied (from her mannerisms and tone) to be Peridot fudging and trying to buy time to convince Yellow Diamond to spare Earth. I don't think anyone really had a firm grasp of what the Cluster's schedule was outside of Peridot, who was the only one looking at the data tracking it.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.P-dot expected them all to be shattered upon the cluster emerging...so that's something.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.(Cross-post with spoiler thread) Confirmed schedule for post-bomb episodes:
Friday, Feb. 17: Storm in the Room – Steven goes into his room in the temple to look for answers.
Friday, Feb. 24: Rocknaldo – Ronaldo sets out to find all the rock people living in Beach City!
RIP Ronaldo, 2013-2017.
Also, "Rocknaldo" sounds like something Fake Steven Universe Episodes
would come up with.

He knows a little. Though probably not much more than Steven. Greg knew what Steven was talking about when Steven asked him about Pink Diamond, but also noted that topic as something Rose didn't like talking about and implied he never tried to force her to.
My own fridge logic in these episodes was Garnet keeping Steven away from Pink's palanquin. While she readily acknowledges that she's keeping quiet out of fear, would it have been that difficult to just say "something dangerous will get you if you go now, but give it a day or two and then it'll be safe" then allow him to go after Blue Diamond had left? I can appreciate telling him BD would be there is a bad idea since it could prompt him to try talking to her, but after?
