The hits are more effective...finished product better is.

Dude, that's what Agate said in the actual episode.

Now I'm curious, are there any known planets that look like that that are just under 70 lightyears away?

The fact that she has a Prim and Proper Bun instead of... Whatever her actual hairstyle is interesting to me.

We still have little idea of what planets outside our solar system look like, including if any of them have rings.

Gas giants near their parent star are the easiest exo planets to find. So we've detected more of them in that 70 light year circumference than could be listed for brevity. If you were hoping to narrow it down to one, that's sadly difficult to do.

I like your thinking though.

Yeah, I figured 70 lightyears was too generous to narrow down, since the nearest star that isn't the sun is like, what- 5 lightyears away?

Approximately.

If it was a terrestrial planet you could possibly narrow it down to a few candidates, as were still in the process of collecting enough data to detect super earths.

That is assuming that the writers would set it on a planet we currently know about.

Question: Do Gems have souls? If so, do they head to the afterlife after being shattered?

Considering the complete lack of religion in the setting I don't think the issue will be addressed

Gems have souls but no religion or afterlife since they are effectively immortal, dying of disease or old age never happens with them.I suppose you could say that when gems are shattered they endure a kind of hell as are they broken apart mentally.

They do practically worship the diamonds though

So Steven's ears are pierced now. I wonder if it'll get brought up after this?

On another note, why would the "Assimilation Chamber" gives humans earrings, since Gems don't normally have ears?

Because humans have ears.

I know you mean

It's more then 'humans have ears' it;s how the gems identify them, like we do with cattle or sheep

Its the same reason they are all wearing the same thing,so they all conform to a group

I feel that the similarity to tagging livestock is a factor.

Gems don't normally have ears?
Yes they do, this art style just only draws female characters' ears if their hair is extremely short or pulled up.

Eyebrows is the thing most gems lack.

The reason for the earrings will be thoroughly explored next episode.

Isn't it a little odd that when Sapphire arrived at the facility she never asked to see the actual zoo? Like, who goes to a zoo and doesn't see the animals?

Sapphire has already seen the zoo, plus she's not there to see the zoo as much as she's delivering new specimens

Yeah, that'll be pretty fairly explored in the next episode. Also if you know your anime dubs, you might recognize a character voice in the next episode.

It must be weird for gems knowing that they can only die in violence.

They can die from falling...potentially.

Isn't that a great counter?

But both the violence and falls were very unlikely to happen.

It's not that weird honestly.

On the flip side, I bet gems think it must be weird for humans to know that they will eventually die of disease or organ failure. Generally, things that are inherent to your being don't seem odd to you.
