This is the closest we've gotten to actually seeing Gem society in action. After years of wondering if we'd ever get to see Homeworld directly, it's almost surreal.
Nice to see that Greg has some company.
I'm starting to wonder if this would've worked better as a tv movie than a bomb. After that opening, the last two episodes have left me anxious for more.

Not clearly, it's a little ambiguous...

No 2nd episode.
What you mean "why"? That's the door to the zoo...it's probably for the best they didn't open it. But still.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I don't believe it's Saturn like some people were suggesting, if only because it would strike me as odd for Homeworld to have an outpost so close to the Earth.
Oh God! Natural light!Among other things, if the Zoo was near Saturn, I think someone on Earth would know about it via the various high-powered telescopes we have.
Though if people really want to science it out, at the speed of light, it would take approximately 71 to 88 minutes to go from Earth to Saturn (precise time dependent on where the two are in their respective orbits, 71 at syzygy and 88 minutes at apoapsis). Admittedly, Steven did get everyone there faster than that via that FTL drive, so not outside of the realm of possibility if you only consider that.
That said, let's look at this from the other direction - the 70 years that Pearl said that it would take to get to the Zoo if they kept at their then-current speed. Given that Saturn is around 746 million to one billion miles from Earth (again, depending on particular orbits), if they were traveling at a speed to get from Earth to Saturn in that time frame, they'd be traveling somewhere between 1216 mph and 1630 miles per hour.
Sound speedy? Well... problem there. See, the ship Steven and the others took apparently did not slow down at all, so at bare minimum, they should be going at escape velocity. Assuming that the barn is somewhere around sea level, escape velocity from the surface of Earth is a hair over 25,000 mph. Given the speed at which they did leave Earth, I think it's reasonable to assume that they're well over the minimum escape velocity. While I imagine that Steven would still object to the approximately 3-4 years that it would take to theoretically rescue his dad at Earth escape velocity if the Zoo was around Saturn, it seems that the Zoo is well beyond the boundaries of Saturn, if it would take about 70 years to get from Earth to the Zoo. Also, I think Steven wouldn't have freaked out so bad about an 8-year round trip compared to a 70-year one-way voyage.
So, unless Pearl misread the readout, the Zoo is not around Saturn. I have thought way too hard about this.

.
The description of Holly Blue makes her sound like much less of an asshole than she is in the finished episode—she still holds the Amethysts in contempt for being from Earth, but is asking for them to be excused (for apparently real rudeness) instead of hitting them.

Those Amethysts don't looks very happy under that servitude.
