Randomness knows why BD was there, that was just a different idea...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Man, Blue Diamond is waaaay different than how I imagined her. I remember us talking about how maybe Pink Diamond was the token good Diamond in contrast to her eventual fate, instead of some freaky collector of living war trophies, and BD was a heartless authoritarian instead of being so sentimental- look how easily she opens up to a lower life form!
That's why, and the Bomb will make this a bit clearer, why I think "The Answer" takes place before Pink was shattered. She started the rebellion, but it was just her and Pearl, before things got too out of hand. Yellow and Blue were probably there to give PD support, or at least Blue was.
I mean, look at her now, she's a grieving wreck.
On a few points.
On Steven suddenly asking questions: I'm going to steal a line from The Truman Show - we accept the reality of the world with which we're presented. How would you know to even ask some of those questions if you weren't even aware that they were there? Heck, it's extremely recent even at this point (if I'm reading the flow of seasons correctly, somewhere around 6-9 months ago) that Steven learned that the "monsters" that the Crystal Gems fight are really corrupted gems. Steven learning that there are darker parts to the legacy of Rose Quartz and the Crystal Gems in general is a very recent thing - it makes sense that he's now thinking to ask questions and get angry when he's given the runaround about them.
Flying a biplane to Korea: I mean, while the design itself is quite retro, in terms of actual construction, keep in mind that the first cross-the-ocean flight was done in a very similar monowing plane in 1927. I'm guessing that, with modern techniques, you could easily build a biplane in 2017 that can do a trans-Pacific flight. Also, one advantage of the trans-Pacific route in the present day is that you don't have to do it all in one shot - the show may have just glossed over stops in Hawaii or Guam for fuel. (EDIT: I just checked, and a 1920's biplane did the first global aerial circumnavigation, so there you go.)
Blue Diamond's hair color: For one, wasn't it stated once that a gem didn't necessarily have to poof in order to change her base appearance? One theoretically could willingly retreat into her gem, tweak her appearance, and reform herself without being poofed. Beyond that, there's the point about artistic interpretation as well as the fact that the light may have made the mural look different than the original artist intended.
Also, for "Adventures in Light Distortion": sometimes, you need to set the table, so to speak, for future plot developments. That said, I could name better "set the table" episodes for the show, like "Hit The Diamond."

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Even though Adventures in Light Distortion was mostly a goof, a rompy goof, there was a good Steven moment in there.
It was a moment that he had to have since ignoring Garnet set this whole series of events off.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersCan we talk for a moment about the Cluster and how Homeworld doesn't think it's emerged yet, while in reality it actually did try to emerge already? Because If Homeworld knew when the Cluster was actually going to emerge then Blue wouldn't have come to Earth at this point, because they'd know Earth would be gone. But they don't know.
Peridot was supposed to be sending in reports about it but instead she did the verbal equivalent of stapling a photocopy of her butt to the boss' face
Forever liveblogging the AvengersBlue Diamond probably rode to Earth unsure if it would still be there or already destroyed. There were hours between the Cluster's causing tremors and doing any real damage, while she could leave the planet in minutes, so she wasn't endangering herself very badly.

I think I've said this before, but walk backwards the history of the Cluster for a bit.
Based on all indications from Peridot, it was implanted basically right at the end of the war. Based on the fact that Amethyst is around 6,000 years old, and she emerged after the war, we can reasonably be sure that the Cluster is at least that old. The Cluster is a prototype; that in fact is why Peridot was sent to check on it (strictly speaking, they don't know the details of what it will do for sure, even if they have a reasonable guess). As such, there's a margin of error for its emergence. If there's even a 1% margin of error for how long it takes to incubate, that means that it could be up to 60 years from the predicted emergence date in either direction - if emergence doesn't seem imminent, that's a 120-year window for how long BD potentially has to visit Earth.
That said, the last communication Homeworld got regarding the Cluster was in "Message Received" - they had to send Peridot to Earth to check on it, so they can't check it from off-planet, and Peri was the last one to tell them anything about it (and what she said was "on schedule"). It makes sense that they'd still think that the Cluster was due to emerge - the only ones that could and would say otherwise are Jasper or the Rubies, but I don't think any of them had the technical expertise to be able to (not to mention, "Message Received" strongly implied that Jasper also had no way of contacting Homeworld, even if she knew about what happened to the Cluster).
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Amethyst is closer to 5000 years old, and the Cluster wasn't ever referred to as a prototype. When they drilled to the Cluster Peridot said that they buried some prototypes with the Cluster, referring to Gem mutants. Unless by prototype you mean that the Cluster was untested and kind of an experiment than yes, the Gems had never made something like that before.
I'm a little disappointed at the level of discussion here. Looks like once the week is over, I'll have to go over to the Spoiler thread to really see how people felt about the episodes.
Next time there's a leak, I hope it's not close to a month away from the actual air dates. Or that the leaks are for marginally less important episodes.
