That was a while ago. Nowadays aside from having a lot less humor, they wouldn't be all that out of place now. Not to say they aren't important cartoons for their strives in bringing more mature storytelling to A Merican animation, but it can be overstated just how groundbreaking they were by older fans.
We don't need any more "what if X was like Y when Z?" questions, they're gimmick topics that don't really go anywhere.
Greg brought up something in "Three Gems and a Baby" that I'd long thought about: why do gems always leave their gemstone is visible?
We don't have a full explanation ("Does your gem need to breathe?"), but that does indicate there is a reason in-universe, it's not just for the audience's benefit.
Steven trying to expose his gem even in infancy suggests it's a physical reason, not just a cultural tendency for the sake of being easily identified. At the same time, Steven and Amethyst keep theirs mostly covered while Pearl and Lapis completely covered theirs to disguise themselves as humans, so it seems just an issue of comfort, not necessity.
The credits music sort of change again: "Gem Harvest" had longer credits because it was a half-hour episode, so "Three Gems and a Baby" had to shorten the same music, leaving out the ominous silence at the beginning.
I think the hiatuses exaggerate people's criticisms/gripes. Some people call the last few episodes more slice of life bits SR because more time has passed between episodes.
There's episodes I certainly do like more than others, but the very format of the show kind of precludes a consistent, noticeable drop in quality, which is what the trope actually means as apposed to a few episodes an editor doesn't like.
Well so far I have seen these:

It's just as much a part of his body as his arm is, probably just feels comfortable that way.
Does make me wonder though if he has tactile sensation there, like if he was punched in the stomach it'd hurt like shit.
Kid's lucky he's never fallen particularly hard on his stomach, Steven with a partially cracked Gem definitely can't be pleasant.
Maybe it's just that his Gem protrudes from his body and it's uncomfortable to press it in?
Also, I'm curious what unfortunate ship name between Jasper and Bismuth could possibly be. Jasmuth? Bisper? Basper? Jasputh? Bismer? Maybe I'm just not caught up on modern offensive slang, because I genuinely can't think of anything.

Anyway, how would SU fare in the 90's?
