Who knows for real? I think Lapis could be like Amethyst in that she SEEMS to be over something and even laugh about it but still has that issue deep inside and it will come to light later, like On The Run and other Amethyst episodes that focus in her pain and insecurities.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.I never once believed that all of Lapis's issues were resolved, I just felt like they went from her having conflict with Peridot to living with Peridot peacefully too quickly.
They've said that Lapis is supposed to represent depression. Since depression is often a life long struggle, I wonder if they won't give her an epiphany that allows her to move past her problems, but instead learn how to better deal with herself.
I think the reason Lapis cools off about Peridot is that the Rubies coming after her or at least Peridot acting with the assumption that they were and trying to sacrifice herself to save the others did prove that Peridot had turned against Homeworld and was not the same Peridot that Lapis had briefly known.
And after that Peridot's various creative projects give Lapis something to do and they bond over Camp Pining Hearts
I don't think it was any dramatic moment beyond what we saw. She stopped being angry at her and there's been a gradual off screen warming up. Helped by Peridot becoming extremely protective of her.
We even see some of the gradual. Lapis' interaction with Peridot is a lot less emotive during the meepmorps then when they're farming.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't think we're done with Lapis by a long shot. Remember, she's still the only gem who isn't loyal to anyone or anything, except maybe Steven. She isn't with Homeworld, but she's not a Crystal Gem, nor is she loyal to Pink Diamond's memory like Jasper is. She's a wildcard, and that has to come back.
Did she though? Her actions throughout the episode could just as easily be "cooperate for Steven's sake" or, at best, "cooperate for Steven's sake and unexpectedly enjoy herself doing it" as it is "we're bffs now".
I took her attempt to joke about her past to suggest she still had some animosity, even if the worst of it is gone.
I think part of the reason Lapis is comfortable with Peridot is that Peridot is too weak to threaten Lapis. Peridot's a second generation Homeworld Gem, meaning that she's one of the weakest characters on the show, humans included. Lapis is first generation, and while her physical combat skills aren't great, she's probably still stronger than Peridot. Plus, the entire barn is filled with water, so Lapis is as powerful there as on the beach.
Was gonna ask if Pikipek looked like Pearl, or if it was just me. Googled for a courtesy image. Found this.

So, just me then.
thats because she basically just discovered it

moved to Oceanstuck because this handle was starting to bother me my tumblrYou know, I think I've brought this up once before in this thread, but Peridot's metalbending could make her really formidable in fights against other gems. There are some gems and rocks that react strongly to magnetism; Bismuth, for instance, is diamagnetic, which means that it's repelled by magnetic fields.
What I'm saying is that Peridot could totally take Bismuth in a fight by just force-pushing her into a wall over and over (once she gets enough practice and experience with her power, that is).

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!Do you suppose that gems are formed under different circumstances? I am sure it has been discussed in this thread before, but I have a feeling that, say, Pearls aren't grown out of the ground the same way that Quartz soldiers are. I think the possibility of gems having different properties (like Bismuths being metallic) shouldn't totally be counted out because of this.
As Peridot mentioned Pearls being made to order, I imagine that they're made by piling layer upon layer of nacre onto a round object with the grove patterns determining the Pearl's characteristics.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Actually, the Walker brothers brought up that very idea in one of their vlogs. Rob's position was that while those looked cool, if she's going to be a major character, then you need her to be able to emote properly, and having her eyes clearly visible is important for that.
Now granted, you might not agree that that's necessary - after all, Garnet's eyes are rarely shown. I'd argue, however, that that's mostly because she's The Stoic - in scenes where it is important for her to emote, she usually doesn't have her goggles on.
That said, it was a pretty cool design choice, and if they wanted to experiment with that, I'd be perfectly in favor of it. As it stands, though, I'm fine with it.

Oh God! Natural light! But she's the apathetic type, she pretty much doesn't emote at all...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

I read Lapis as someone who has been so badly hurt in the past and is so desperately afraid of being hurt again, that she is constantly on guard around others to the point of being aloof at best, and more often surly and unpleasant. Like a whole-personality version of "resting bitch face." Steven is the one person she allows herself some vulnerability with, because he is transparently a cinnamon roll who will never harm her.
That said, she and Peridot obviously did reconcile somewhere offscreen. Maybe an apology was included in that.
