Re: #44811
One minor thing I noticed and liked was when Andy picked up and hugged Steven. Each Gem got momentarily aggresive, ready to jump in. Their protective instinct was showing. Also Lapis' nonchalant "Okay" to "throw me at the plane"
The hug, a combination of protective instincts & the fact a relative stranger who appears hostile whom they are still trying to comprehend his relation with Steven suddenly gives him a bear-hug which can be mistaken for an offensive action.
Also I think if Andy appears again he'll prolly be less of a jerk as unlike Lars he admits his own issues & appears to be making an effort to improve himself which includes being more accepting & receptive.
That leads to another interesting question actually: Are there other alien species out there? I mean the Gems are a galaxy spanning empire & according to the murals have colonized tens of planets so they must have ran into indigenous life-forms which would make them even more horrifying as we can add mass-genocide to there list of atrocities. If the Gems exist why can't anything else exist?

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."That was a fun and interesting episode. No Gem Lore like people thought, but it did give some insight on Greg's past and the rest of the family, the human side of the series.
Also, one thing that stuck out to me was when Andy called the Gems "Illegal Aliens." At first I thought he meant they were illegal immigrants, but then he actually acknowledged that they were extraterrestrials, so that begs the question...
Are there other extraterrestrial species that have legal Earth rights?
I'm not really that sure what to think of this episode
When I saw the preview for it, I was somewhat worried, what with the whole "the pumpkin hates Steven now" thing. But when they dropped that point altogether and moved on to Andy, I had mixed feelings about the big revelation and that following results. Also, I think I'm with Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl in regards to Lapis and Peridot's mirror joke, it wasn't crossing the line per se, but it certainly took things to an awkward place. This actually bothers me, because, when it comes right down to it; this is essentially a Thanksgiving episode (actually it gives a shout out to both Halloween and Thanksgiving in certain moments). Although, the problem could be because we had a brief problem at home before the episode aired or because I only saw it once.
Still though, I will say this; Lapis might not be an official Crystal Gem, but, given her interactions with them this episode, she might as well. They're really not showing the animosity between them anymore, are they?
P-dot made hers into an actual joke...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I absolutely loved this episode. Yeah, Andy is a conservative (not even that much of one, to be honest) and probably is the kind of person who'd vote for Trump, but that was the entire point. The moral of this episode wasn't 'be tolerant and accepting of others', it was 'be tolerant and accepting of others, and don't forget that those who aren't tolerant, are still people with hopes, dreams, and very understandable values'. And in this political climate, this episode may be the most important episode Steven Universe has ever had.
The main reason I still don't consider Lapis a Crystal Gem is because while Peridot takes part in missions from time to time, Lapis is just a freeloader.
Those Rubies were attacking the barn, so that just as easily falls under self-preservation. Plus I think Lapis' "joke" (I hate the table!) shows there's at least a little animosity there, even if she can put it aside when interacting with them.
She's a Pretty Freeloader, but she also has no obligation to be anything else. Even if you wanted to use her bringing Homeworld Gems to Earth, she spent months keeping the most dangerous of those Gems out of commission.
The real test will come when Lapis has to interact with a Crystal Gem without Steven around to be peacekeeper.

This episode was interesting. I don't know if I liked it, but I thought it was okay. It was nice getting to know more about Steven's human half of his family, including that fact that Greg's original last name was "Demayo." Which means Dr. Maheswaran was right when she said that she didn't think Universe could be Steven's real last name, haha.
Also, Andy mentioned an aunt and her partner taking the RV. Does this mean Steven has a gay (human) aunt?
I found the "illegal aliens" joke amusing. I've been wondering if they would ever make that joke.
I'm watching the VA's live video feed thing of them watching "Gem Harvest" on Facebook right now. They're so adorable and funny, haha.

If I remember right, Greg said he had the name legally changed. So, ironically, Universe is Steven's real last name. It's just not technically his father's.
Or Yellow Diamond is coming to Earth for the purpose of unbubbling the Cluster.

I liked this one. It was nice to see more of the human side and to know that Steven does have family. It's easy to forget, but Greg had his own background once upon a time before he joined up with aliens.
Also I like that it's a pretty American episode in the sense that there's a lot of people like Andy who aren't bad because of their beliefs, but the more traditional sorts rely on family very highly. I've seen a lot of my own family from back east get down like that when there's not many around.
Also the political subtext and the idea of the Gems getting married plus the hippie and illegal aliens bit were very funny.
In a time like this, this episode came out at the exact right time, even if the exact circumstances couldn't have been known when it was storyboarded.
I disagree entirely. This episode coming out when it did made me feel like crying when I watched it. The moment Andy made a comment about "illegals" I knew it was going to be uncomfortable, and it didn't get any better.
Hell, his line about how Greg should have been married if he had a kid made me feel sick, and in the end, they never said Andy was wrong to think such things. They acted like it was okay.

Alright, so it's official. Two week hiatus then.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
