Not that confusing.

"Catch and Release" finally ties it all together. I didn't think the transition would happen all in one episode for Peridot.

I like that this isn't the first time the Gems have tried to get Steven to go to the bathroom outside, as well as Pearl pondering keeping Peridot tied up on a leash out there.

Am I the only one who thinks Centipeetle's gem looks like a pokeball? Especially since it's defeated, then later released as (relatively) friendly.

Well, I read that fanfic/rant, and I'm not entirely sure whether it's a poorly-disguised Author Tract from some very immature guy, or a well-crafted parody of the people who don't like the show's messages, mixed in with some criticism.

The worst part is that he makes a couple of good points, like how quickly and easily plots resolve themselves, or how Kevin himself was a stock antagonist at best. When I saw the direction it was heading, I thought it was going to be a critique of the show's (albeit few) flaws, and the bad parts of its fanbase. And it was. It's too bad it's in the form of such an insufferable, one-sided, hateful package of a story. Other parts of it just seemed nitpicky, and everything else was just...wow.

The fact that someone can actively hate a show this much, and for those reasons, is astounding to me.

Like I've said previously, I want a future episode that reveals that Kevin's story about his brother is actually true, but Kevin doesn't care about him and just uses it as a sob story to mess with people. The episode in question would make it clear that Kevin has sociopathic personality disorder, and his family tries their best to love him regardless, ending with both Steven and Kevin's little brother feeling sorry for him.

So on the Tear Jerker page, the image is the "I think you're pretty great" line. IDK, while it's a sad scene, the context is more sweet and reassuring than strictly sad.

There used to be the "I didn't want to hurt anyone@!" scene from "Mindful Education" which I think works better. If not, we've had a lot of sad moments after season 1, so surely there's a picture that could update it nicely.

Looks like this hiatus was a short one. And looks like Gem Harvest isn't the grim episode people were theorizing the past couple of months.

Well I think there was somebody (either on here or Reddit) who jokingly said that Gem Harvest would turn out to be an episode where Peridot and Lapis take up farming.

More recently I've been seeing a lot of people reject the edgier theories in favor of a "pumpkin harvest" episode, so I'm glad they're right.

Well they got kinda wise after all the episodes with edgier titles turned out to be pretty lighthearted (Hit the Diamond, for example).

By contrast, the lighthearted titles are usually the edgier or more gamechanging episodes (Catch and Release, Super Watermelon Island, Warp Tour, Lion 3, etc.).

I wouldn't assume "Gem Harvest" to be light just because it has one clip where something cute happens. Might not be important to the Myth Arc, but the setup is kind of begging for a Gone Horribly Wrong twist as has happened in similar cases (Frybo, the Watermelon Steven, Holo-Pearl).

Honestly though, they made the idea of hollowing out a pumpkin seem really messed up.

Reminds me of the Melon Lord.

Although I'm not really phased by this because I've seen even more extreme versions of the "make some process horrifying by anthropomorphizing an object" gag.

Well I mean I'm not wholly disturbed by it, but I'll admit it makes me a little uncomfortable, mostly cuz of the sentient pumpkin's reaction to it.

Steven Tale Strip 3 remaster on tumblr.

I have a sense Gem Harvest is going to have a Double-Meaning Title. Just because an episode starts light doesn't mean it's fluffy filler.

We've had a lot of filler this season already, haven't we? Who knows...

The animation looks pretty subpar though.

I've never seen carving a pumpkin look so easy. Steven's pro.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
