Its not great so far Jasper and Bismuth wise but it did take time for Lapis to get redeemed. She hid in a fusion under the sea, LA PIS LA ZULI
Salty and blue and traumatized is she.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersSteven decided Jasper did deserve a chance to get help though.
Beach security? They move around to a bunch of different beaches although they seem to have settled down recently?

For that last thing you are wrong...but only when it comes to the Jasper gem.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. And then Amethyst stopped him, and they bubbled Jasper, who has yet to be seen again.
I'm saying that I don't care about if the Rubies haven't gotten redeemed, because we have a good Ruby. YD is one of the big bads.
Jasper and Bismuth are the only major butch women though. If all the black people in a show are criminals, you're sending the message that black people are criminals. If the only major butch women are villains, that is a problem.

Amethyst didn't stop him, the Jasper gem stopped him...and it was already too late.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Couldn't Amethyst be considered butch? Or do you just ignore her because she damages your narrative?
My various fanfics.I know that Bismuth and Jasper have the big and butch thing going on but does Amethyst not count?
She's not as big but she was supposed to be similar to Jasper and has several similarities in temperament.
I'm not quite sure where the line gets drawn. How are we defining it? I googled a definition and it seems like it could apply to Amethyst but apparently it doesn't?

x4 No, just the context of that one specific scenario that's obviously gonna lead to the Jasper gem getting redeemed at some point...even though she started out as evil butch.

Amethyst is a little bit too sensuous and curvaceous to cross the line between "Tom Boy" and "Butch".
Come to think of it, this show seems to be against butchness in general. Even in men, butchness comes off as disreputable, while more feminine and gentle males get a lot more appreciation.
Which aligns very well with my personal aesthetic: I find that butchness is kinda ugly, disgusting, and baffling on either gender. But it's dissonant given the message of acceptance and kindness that the show conveys, risking Broken Aesop. It's also unfair to the butch.
There's no virtue in being nice and tolerant only to people you like.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Your counterpounts haven't made sense. You say the rubies are still villains, but that's not related. Show me a major butch character who is a good guy, and isn't portrayed as violent or aggressive. That will prove me wrong.
And you also keep ignoring that the story doesn't exist on it's own. It was created by people, and isn't something that just grew.
They created Bismuth, made her butch, and then did a story about her wanting to murder everyone on the homeworld. They didn't need to. They could have had her be bubbled on accident, or could have her realize she was wrong. But they didn't. They made her violent and aggressive and evil.
@The Handle: Thank you.
And now, I'm going to leave. You've all made up your minds, and I have better stuff to do than deal with this.
