There are genuine valid criticisms to be made. And then there is over analyzing, micromanaging, and holding Steven Universe to a standard that goddamn Transparent isn't held to.

It's not that serious, calm down. Just don't be too surprised when some people have a hard time not feeling for every time someone complains about something being "offensive"

If you're not part of a certain group, you have no right to say what people of that group should or should not find offensive. You have no right to criticize them for what offends them. Because, if you haven't noticed, this goes beyond personal; it's literally life and death.

I honestly think people view alleged minority viewership in SU more than Transparent, an Emmy award winning show where analysis and deconstruction of those roles and tropes is the entire point.
You mean like how this fandom has literally driven two people to near suicide? Fandoms should not have a kill count!

Transparent also gets a lot of shit from trans people for starring a cis man as a trans woman. Even the star of the series says he wants more trans actors in Hollywood and he'd be glad to be the last cis man to play a trans woman.
Oh my god, stop bringing up the friggin' fan dumb. That doesn't invalidate anything from here.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?@ Sal Fish Fin Sorry, who's that directed to?
I don't think it's meant to invalidate anything. I think he's saying that some people can take what offends them way too far.

Here's the key difference. Transparent wants people watching it regardless of gender and orientation to start a dialog and enjoy the show.
Steven seems to be tailored to a very specific niche and God help you if you deviate from said niche or the fans will have your head.

No, I'm not. I'm observing a show that is being viewed under a legion of microscopes when it really shouldn't. There's complaints and there's reaching. There are more articles on the representation in Steven Universe than Transparent, The Wire, and Orange is the New Black combined seemingly.

Yes, some people can be like that. Does that mean any criticism is invalid automatically because of a few schmucks? Does that mean my complaints or Smokey's complaints are invalid? Fuck no.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
