Hey so a thought occurred to me concerning the corrupted forms gems take on
Could it be that the animalistic forms they take on are a form of evolutionary regression?Like the gems race has had long line of evolutionary forms and the corruption happens to revert them to one of their previous forms?

have a listen and have a link to my discord serverPlus, for the billionth time, all gems we know of but the Diamonds were created artificially and of a type designed for a specific task. They could have made built the types from pre-existing lifeforms, but... why? What's the advantage of copying a design if you need to completely change every part of it to meet your goal? It's like trying to build a car out of a coffee table.

My headcanon is that they take cues from life forms and other things in their surroundings. The gem goes through an unconscious process of "What am I? Well, what else is here? There's something, I must be one of those." It obviously wouldn't be a perfect match, and there's still information about the Gem's real form floating around in there, but it would explain why, for example, the Quartz monsters up above the snow line had bearlike traits, a pufferfish Gem monster came out of the ocean, etc.
but why does centi have the same form as her crew
moved to Oceanstuck because this handle was starting to bother me my tumblrThey were same gem type...
