@Smokey I get how you feel. Sometimes a show/movie/game just hits you on every right note that you enjoy every minute of it. My icon is Henry from Firewatch because that game struck a chord with me, with characters and themes that I completely related to. Plus, Henry kind of looks like me in 10-20 years. tongue

Sucks for you. I'll say it again, if some bad apples are enough to ruin your enjoyment of a work, before even checking it out you probably would have never watched it / liked it anyway. You were just looking for an excuse not to give it your time.

What a small minority does, should have no bearing, on you checking something out, and forming your own opinion.

i too find it a bullshit argument but thats more because it implies the quality of a work is determined by the quality of its fandom, and by extension that works are their fandoms, which is just wrong outright

Somebody in that same question I mentioned actually brought up how it feels like the fans are influencing the show. Then someone else brought up that Zuke herself was a fan before being signed on to work on the show.

I don't know how true that is, but I remember hearing some advice that you should never have a fan of a work get involved in its production, because then it can get too...I think he used the word "self-congratulatory".

That aside, I think the show's still great, regardless.

When fans start running a show, one of two things happen.

Either they ruin everything by warping the show to what they like, to the point where it's terrible.

Or they turn it into a celebration of all the best parts of the series, and make it one of the most enjoyable things you could imagine.

I find that hard to believe since the timeline's been written out and planned for quite a long time and animation lead time means there's at least an eight month gap between finalization and completion of an episode. And that's particularly ironic considering how blatantly One Of Us these nerds are as creators that still manage to make a compelling show that's firmly its own creation.

The difference is that Rebecca Sugar is the one still running SU. With stuff like Star Trek or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or various comic books, you see how much a fan can affect things when they grow up and get put in charge.

Or both, depending on who you ask.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

I noticed in "Coach Steven" you get the first hint that something's up with Garnet, since we'd seen Amethyst and Pearl fuse and their fusion had 4 eyes and 2 gems, with Sugelite (spelling?) you had 5 eyes and three gems, though the Garnet gems were the same color.

I liked how Pearl tried to shield Steven's eyes from their fusion dance.

"Onion Gang" preview:

Unless the schedule updates again, this will be the last episode before the show goes on hiatus again. As for how long exactly this next hiatus will be, we'll have to wait and see.

Do we know what gem weapons Sapphire and Ruby have? Because most fusions seem to have the weapons of their component Gems but Sapphire doesn't seem like a fist-weapon user to me.

Ruby has a gauntlet and we dunno about Sapphire's. If she has one at all.

Can future vision be weaponized?

It probably can

She did have Ruby guards for a reason

My guess is that Sapphire doesn't have one, but fusing amplifies Ruby's gauntlet so it's bigger and stronger/can be made giant.

Or maybe Future Vision is Sapphire's "weapon".

Future vision could certainly be effective in a fight. Just look at the [1] books, where it's considered an auto-win if the opponent doesn't also have it.

Pearl having a weapon when she was essentially made to be a personal assistant suggests to me that all gems have some kind of weapon.

The crew has said that not every gem has a weapon per se. They've said Lapis' hydrokinesis is her "weapon"

I'm actually kinda annoyed how the show started and taught us that Gems have weapons and now it seems that only some have (but servant Pearl does have?) and we were all wondering for months what's Peridot or Lapis weapon for nothing.

AlleyOop Since: Oct, 2010
#42975: Sep 11th 2016 at 2:42:13 PM

Whether you can call it a "weapon" or not they all seem to have some sort of gem "manifestation". Peridot probably still has another trick up her sleeve, much like how Amethyst is good at shapeshifting but her whip is her actual gem weapon, and how the Rubies have different fighting tools like chisels and fists.
