I kind of like how the video buffered after Pearl was awkward.

The important thing is that Greg will likely suffer the legal consequences of Pearl's actions, due to the car being under his name. Pearl wasn't caught but the cop likely has images or video of the license plate.

I would agree, except this is a cartoon, and they probably don't think that far.

It's also worth mentioning that what Stevonnie did with the car wasn't exactly legal either.

Stevonnie never got caught. It's only illegal if you get caught!

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

It wouldn't actually have been impossible for the gems to get licenses though. I remember there being a guy who got in trouble because he worked as a Santa and legally had his license as "Santa Claus". When they took it to court he won, because I guess at the time he started doing it you could put whatever name you wanted on your license in his state.

My point is they wouldn't have necessarily looked into their background or anything if they got one.

I don't see much evidence that the Gems are actually bound to human laws.

I wonder if we'll ever get any information on what the Gems official status is when it comes to the government. Do they actually have any particular policy when it comes to Gem stuff?

I mean, I imagine the legal system will try to enforce its laws on the Gems as though they were human, unless they have some provision telling them not to. Which they might. Or might not.

I've had an idea. Maybe the temple is technically considered foreign territory, like the Petoria episode of Family Guy. The fence wasn't just to keep people out, it was to mark the borders.

I loved this episode. I thought Pearl wouldn't go as far as she did since these kinds of characters typically just do something very tame and treat it as Serious Business. The fact that she did made it hilarious. Like, Amethyst is right she's a total bada...

That joke cracked me the hell up. Great episode. Also fascinating girl is fascinating.

She reminds me of the Little Red-Haired Girl from Peanuts, who never spoke or was seen much, and her appearances were focused on Charley Brown's feelings about her.

Pearl is breaking the law!
I now have a desire for Pearl dressed as a young Rob Halford.

Can we talk about Pearl not being a US citizen despite being in the US before it was the US?
Putting aside Inhumanable Alien Rights, it's complicated. The only gems entitled to automatic US citizenship are Amethyst, Jasper, and any other gems made on Earth (if this seems harsh, keep in mind that the birthplace-based laws of the Americas are still more favorable to them than the parentage-based laws of the rest of the world). A court could declare them citizens based on interpreting previous laws, such as the Indian Citizenship Act, but it's not a safe bet. After all, people born in US territories are only guaranteed American nationality, not citizenship until a law grants citizenship to their specific territory.

Anyway, the real problem here is not the letter of the law, it's proving residency in Beach City that predates its integration into the US.

So why couldn't the Crystal Gems have gotten honorary citizenship status for saving the President or something?
If they actually tried to becomes citizens, they could end up exposing how they regularly break human laws, like using warp pads to cross borders without permission. Or, at this point, that Peridot definitely immigrated illegally and would have to apply to be considered a refugee.

Pearl wasn't caught but the cop likely has images or video of the license plate.
The car was abandoned, so he'll probably end up lying and saying it was stolen, with Barb and Vidalia being his alibi for why it couldn't be him. (P.S. If this is mentioned next episode, I will be so goddamn happy.)

She reminds me of the Little Red-Haired Girl from Peanuts, who never spoke or was seen much, and her appearances were focused on Charley Brown's feelings about her.
Even if we don't have a page for it, it's a well-established trope: A Love Interest whose characterization is minimal, not because they are a Satellite Love Interest, but because they're only shown from the perspective of someone who can't work up the nerve to talk to them.

Ruth from Hey Arnold! is another example: Arnold pined after without knowing a thing about her, until he actually did talk to her and found out they have no real interest in each other. Sara from Over the Garden Wall might be another example, up until we (and Wirt) actually met her near the end. Loving a Shadow is sometimes involved, but not necessarily.

If Pearl's a criminal from another planet, I guess you could call her an illegal alien?

Pearl really is bad fucking ass.

Mirror Gem and Ocean Gem were what got me hooked. But I've seen some people in this thread say they got people into it from having them watch The Answer, or Mr.Greg.
