It'd be nice to get this first-hand, though—Molisee reblogging this post at least.
They show up in a few episodes. They were in "Future Boy Zoltron" too.
And I still maintain that Smiley and Frowny wanted to have a relationship, but never actually got it off the ground because poor Quentin is a mess.
Also, isn't it just as much of an assumption to assume that Jasper can't be more successfully healed the same way Steven tried to heal Centipeedle? If it only happens after they find a total cure, then they would probably heal about 10,000 corrupted gems before they healed Jasper, and as nice a thing as that would be, it would honestly be a complete mess.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
It's an assumption based on something we've seen. We have no reason to assume that Jasper's case is somehow special unless you want to get meta, and that's terrible for in story reasoning.
Like I said before, corruption is too big and important an issue to just be casually hand waved away for one character.
That's not even saying they can't come up with a clever way to cure Jasper, just that none of the proposed ways actually come off that way.

Going back to my point about Garnet, I would think her character would benefit from experiencing what it's like to be apart for a longer period of time. It might shed some light on how being fused for so long has affected the Gems that literally make up her character.
Like a new villain beats her in a fight and takes Sapphire, and a couple of the following episodes would be about how Ruby deals with being separated from her. I assume she would take it poorly
.
A proactive Sapphy role, yeah...she needs to control that fate of hers.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That could be interesting to see Sapphire become Not So Stoic, like she did in Keystone Motel.
Maybe it could mention how Sapphire sees the future much clearer when she's not fused.
It seems like there are less possible outcomes with Sapphire's future vision. Like it's not completely clear, but it's clearer than Garnet's.

According to "Hit the Diamond" it pretty much works the same.
I assumed she only saw things based on whether or not she did something.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Well, the first episode I ever really saw from start to finish was "Space Race" so I kind of had an idea.
Story boarding comes after the script part of production. It's the part where the in-progress episode basically looks like a comic book. The different shots are represented as still frames. However some shows, particularly 15 minute ones like Steven Universe and Adventure Time, skip straight to the story boarding process.

x5 Story boarding helps the animation process, timing of dialogue, sound effects, and character motion..things like that. Involves doing a whole lot of less detailed drawings so they can submit them in a timely fashion.

They first appeared way back in "Bubble Buddies", actually.
