Well, it's also worth noting that, IRL, the Double Standard is still very much a thing in many schools; a boy hitting a girl is frequently punished more harshly than the converse.

Wow, I guess I'm in the minority here because this episode was kinda bleh. I thought the song was so boring I ended up skipping through it.
It's definitely not bad, Steven Universe is very rarely bad, but it wasn't that good, especially if this is all we'll see of Steven's guilt over his actions. Stevonnie flutter jumping was rad, though.
The moral, that Steven can both acknowledge his pain and that he had no choice, was great. I like it a lot.
Is it surprising? Bleh-ness is a transparent feeling.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I kind of assume Jeff lied about how he got injured to save them both the trouble.
I think the reason I found the song just okay was Estelle's singing voice. it just doesn't grab me as much as Deedee's voice. Stevonnie's singing was a bit better, but still not as great. I was going to say the chorus felt a bit repetitive, but the same could be said about "It's Over".
"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" CroshawWasn't really feeling the song the first time through, but now that I've been listening to it some more, it's really grown on me.
I'll admit, I liked this episode mostly for the last couple minutes, because...wow...
I doubt this is the last we'll see of that. This is probably going to serve as a prelude to this season's story arcs.

Oh God! Natural light! This is just the beginning of internal struggle.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I went to a private high school, so they started this experiment earlier with us, before doing it in the public schools later. Tis how I know.
BTW the no touch policies sometimes applies to the teachers too. A teacher I had was fired because he hugged a student who was upset to comfort them.

Not allowed to handshake...that sounds extreme.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. There's no safe assumptions about how any real life school would react to this kind of thing (especially in practice, not just theory), much less a fictional one.
I do hope Connie's apparent inability to be at ease gets addressed again. Training making you prone to violence is a flaw, not an unavoidable side-effect of doing it well.

She needs more training.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Its weird how nobody likes the singing voice of the professional singer better than the other non-professional. Dont get me wrong, I super agree with you, Deedee Magno Hall just sinks Estelle in the beautiful voice department, but its still weird.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.

Yeah, I could see that happening in the real world. Especially at the kind of private school she definitely goes to.
