The weaker the Gem the harder the construct. PD was probs cut soft by Rosey's sword.

[up][up] Just how tough I have to wonder? Like, did she have to use the breaking point to kill PD?

If it was in the exact place Bismuth left it before Rosey poofed her then it's not likely she used it.

Why do people keep acting as if the Breaking Point is the only way to shatter a gem?

[up][up]She immediately found it, so it couldn't have been moved...

[up]Because Rosey needs to be a hypocrite?

[up][up] A gem sure, but a diamond? One with every power that Rose has taken up to eleven I would assume?

[up] She didn't destroy it, so I can only assume she was willing to use it as a weapon of last resort. Bismuth wanted to use it for genocide, preemptively.

I personally think we know too little about what happened to assume that Rose used the Breaking Point. All we know is that Rose apparently shattered Pink Diamond.

I was assuming she used her sword...because Diamondo are weak compared to the body.

I mean, I assume the Diamonds are super strong and it was a might struggle but there's been no indication that any gem is harder to shatter than another once it's gotten to that point.

There's really no reason to assume the Diamonds are any more shatter resistant than any other Gem. Going by real word gems (which the show doesn't seem to) they should be easier to shatter.

CaptainCapsase from Orbiting Sagittarius A* Since: Jan, 2015

Wasn't the whole point of the breaking point the fact that it could shatter a gem with even a blow to their projected body?

LSBK Since: Sep, 2014
#40914: Aug 18th 2016 at 12:59:18 PM

No? It seemed like everyone here took it to be a weapon to be specifically aimed at the gem, to shatter it. It was a very impractical weapon, actually.

Huh. Well I should probably watch the episode, the impression I got from the tropes page was that it was some sort of superweapon.

LSBK Since: Sep, 2014
#40916: Aug 18th 2016 at 1:02:28 PM

I mean, it didn't look like it was magic. If it did act like that it would probably make the matter more interesting because that probably would be useful to the rebellion's troops and help make them safer.

But that wasn't the impression I got, and it doesn't seem like anyone here took it that way.

Now that Capasse mentions it, I actually do kind of wish it was something like what he described, though. It would have made the moral dilemma, seem like more of an actual dilemma.

Diamonds for all their superiority and tough skins, are still Gems. You can shatter one, presumably poof them, and they have hard light constructs.
Besides being possible to shatter (which is just basically saying they aren't invincible, which is obvious), none of those are safe assumptions. Even if they are "still gems" in a semantic sense, they may not be gems as we know them.

Do we have any idea how big YD is compared to some fusions? She was obviously huge but that doesn't really say much. But power does seem somewhat correlated with size, obviously.
