I personally think we know too little about what happened to assume that Rose used the Breaking Point. All we know is that Rose apparently shattered Pink Diamond.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I mean, I assume the Diamonds are super strong and it was a might struggle but there's been no indication that any gem is harder to shatter than another once it's gotten to that point.
There's really no reason to assume the Diamonds are any more shatter resistant than any other Gem. Going by real word gems (which the show doesn't seem to) they should be easier to shatter.
