In fairness we named our planet Ground, our moon Moon, and our sun Sun. We're not that imaginative either.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThose were really innovative back in the day.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So anyone want to speculate what the two as of yet unseen diamonds will be like?
White Diamond I'm guessing will be a Totalitarian Utilitarian. Pink Diamond would either be the Token Good Teammate or The Caligula.
I think Pink Diamond being the Token Good Teammate (or as far as you could reasonably expect her to be, given who she is) or at least Affably Evil would make for the best story, since it makes Rose's decision to shatter her more tragic and makes their relationship more interesting. It makes that plot point have more impact than if PD was just a petty tyrant like YD.
Pink Diamond being a Token Good Teammate, kind of changes the dynamics of things in a way that I don't think they want. I mean, how do you define "good" when her objective was to turn the planet into a lifeless wasteland?

When people say Token Good Teammate, they just mean "in comparison to the other diamonds", not that she was full-out benevolent or anything. For example, it could be that PD was genuinely quite appreciative, approachable and patient with all gems but didn't think the lives of humans and other Earth creatures were valuable enough to get worked up about.

It's not really the best term to use if I'm honest. Affably Evil is probably closer to what I described.
Benevolent Boss and Species Loyalty sound like what you're looking for.

I mean, the very nature of gems more or less requires them to continuously expand at the cost of other (intelligent?) forms of life. Most humans don't really care much about the suffering we inflict on species other than our own. Considering the Gems came here before recorded history, human society would've been so primitive that they might not have even realized humans were sentient. Rose certainly didn't seem to think of humans as anything beyond "amusing pets" until she met Greg.
Hell, for a mineral based holographic lifeform, the idea that a being hydrocarbons and water could be as intelligent as a rock would sound absolutely absurd.

Peridot's statement could mean a lot of things. But we that they themselves receive all they need from their Gems, and they may very well not have a naturally ending life cycle.
Like, I'm not denying they probably think of life on Earth like a lot of people think of everything that isn't human. But if humans thinking that way isn't excusable why would Gems thinking that way be so?

I can't imagine they'd bother with Earth rather than any of the trillions of other similar rocks that are present in our galaxy if the fact that Earth had life on it wasn't important. The other terrestrial worlds would've been an equally valid choice if it was just about the planet's material composition.

There's really no point to making things so different if Gemkind wasn't somehow involved with it.
