SU is not really a show that has filler considering the show is supposed to be a magical Slice of Life show at heart. With all the heavy plot stuff being largely in the background most of the time.

Not much going on with this one but I liked it nonetheless.

Didn't Garne talk to Opal when she was trying to shoot down Peridot's ship?

Maybe so, but when we just got a bunch of episodes that connected to the Myth Arc and suddenly get a Fourth Wall episode like this... It kind of feels like filler, even if it isn't technically filler.

I see it as more of a Breather Episode to top off the season with. Last episode was kinda that but too manic in its own way.

I loved that episode. The bit where Sardonyx was like, "She's not even in this episode. Do we still have to pay her?" killed me.

Aw, I missed the shipping discussions. I kinda like Bispearl... and Jaspidot. :P

When we're done, there won't be anything left.

So Sapphire's gonna show up again. I think the odds of a certain song being about Garnet have dramatically increased.

I'll admit, I was disappointed it did't introduce any new fusions, but this was still fun to watch.

Garnet's solid 30 seconds of screaming and the Breaking the Fourth Wall moments were funny.

Also, I'm in the process of ranking all 21 episodes. Be back soon.

Hopefully Sapphire showing up again isn't going to be another episode where Ruby and Sapphire do nothing but flirt with each other the whole time again.

It would just be nice to see how Ruby and Sapphire act without the other.

Perhaps its from a possible flashback episode?

[up][up] Maybe the episode's going to be about how that they've been fused so long, that they don't know how to act when they're apart.

Even then, it's hard to call that 'filler' if it does advance the plot or becomes its own spinoff from the manga, as anime is wont to do.

It's not hard to call it filler if you just take it to mean "anime-original content", which is what I said earlier. It's not about making a judgment on its quality, that was the whole point of my original post.

Speaking of Ruby and Sapphire being unfused: Greg wasn't shocked to see Ruby and Sapphire in the motel episode. He even said "it must have taken something BIG to make them split up." Which means that he had met Ruby and Sapphire before. Do you think we'll get to see that in a flashback episode?

[up][up][up][up]

Would make sense, while this show is on the idealistic end it's also not the type to romanticize things either, as with Alone at Sea and Lapis being portrayed as both a victim and a mutual abuser. And maybe it's the cynic in me but Ruby and Sapphire edge onto Sickeningly Sweethearts a bit more than is healthy.

I wanna know more about these two as individuals. As the Ruby Squad episodes showed, there's a lot of variation even within Gem types. These two are currently defined entirely by their relationship with each other, in a sort of mutual Satellite Love Interest. You don't surrender your autonomy when you enter a relationship, no matter how much your partner genuinely loves you.

Well, the clip of Sapphire has to be from either "Buddy's Book", "Mindful Education", or "Future Boy Zoltron", since the rest of the clips are. My guess is it's from the last, and the episode has Steven somehow use her future vision powers. And that clip's probably from some sort of flashback about her powers.

Either way, the episode I mentioned probably isn't happening in the next three weeks.

I guess "Future Boy Zoltron" is the one where Steven looks like a robot? It makes me wonder if Steven wrote something and the ep will play out a bit like "Garnet's Universe."

I agree with Alley Oop about Ruby and Sapphire. I don't like the implication that their relationship is entirely healthy as is.
