Lame Pun and References and past footage "From Cartoon Network" Abound. I would call this the first true filler episode of the series. Or that Uncle Grandpa crossover.

Pretty much, outside of Garnet and Stevonnie, pretty much none of the other fusions have gotten the main character spotlight untill this one.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMUI think applying "filler" to anything but anime-original episodes of a manga adaptation is probably a bad idea. Most of the time when people say that they mean "it does nothing to advance the Myth Arc and I personally don't find it interesting", which is a fine opinion, but in the case of SU specifically I feel there's more to the show than the main plot about Homeworld and those parts shouldn't be disregarded as unimportant.
Not that anyone here is guilty of this or anything, my ears just perk up whenever I hear the phrase these days.

The episode was great btw, I wanted the interplay between Smoky and Sardonyx and it delivered on that so I have no real complaints.

Yeah I don't actually recall Garnet saying two words to Opal. Though Garnet and Stevonnie count I suppose.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Wasn't really feeling that episode. Most of the jokes didn't work for me and it got kind of predictable once it got to the game show segment.
"Do we still have to pay her?" and Sardonyx's Freak Out were the highlights for me.
Even then, it's hard to call that 'filler' if it does advance the plot or becomes its own spinoff from the manga, as anime is wont to do.
I was really meh on this episode because I prefer episodes to be Myth Arc related somehow, and this episode didn't even have Beach City resident character development to balance out the 'fillerness' of the plot. I'm also not a fan of Fourth Wall episodes unless the show is deliberately done with Animated Actors, so...

Oissu! That was a cute episode even if the jokes didn't really land all that well. Nice hearing Minaj's voice again and love that Opal's theme showed up during the bow and arrow section. Also interesting getting more insight on Sardonyx's character, including how her performance artist side can go too far.
I guess this episode also confirms Smokey Quartz is a "they".
