I believe that LBSK mentioned wanting to see a Homeworld Gem who wasn't redeemed (and not the Diamonds)?
Would anyone maybe like to hear an idea I came up with for such a character?
Oh God! Natural light!Peridot and the corrupted gem were VERY Wile E. Coyote.
And while I loved Steven's marshmallow throwing to demonstrate "monster", Steven just saying "let me bubble you" and the rest of the Crystal Gems watching because it was funny, my favorite part was Lapis reading a magazine titled "pretty hairstylist".
Lapis is so anime that manga just spontaneously generates near her every so often
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAlright then.
I think I might have mentioned an idea like this before, but I think it really solidified after "Bismuth". Bismuth mentioned "Snowflake" as one of the past Crystal Gems, and general consensus seems to be that she was referring to snowflake obsidian.
Basically, my idea was for Obsidians to essentially be spies for Homeworld, using their strong powers of observation to scout out and analyze potential threats, and eliminating them as needed. I envision a small group of them arriving on Earth after Homeworld learns of the Crystal Gem's survival, lead by "Obsidian Prime" - a cold, calculating gem who is a downright fanatical servant of the Diamonds, even compared to the likes of Jasper. She actually fought the Crystal Gems in the rebellion, and Garnet and Pearl recognize her on sight. Rather than using overwhelming force, like Jasper did, she decides to use coordinated strikes to back the Crystal Gems into a corner, even going as far to hold Beach City hostage in order to force their surrender.
In contrast to that, we can introduce Snowflake, who was once a spy like the rest of the Obsidians, but Rose showed her how she could use her powers of observation to learn more about the Earth. I see her quiet, introspective Gem who gives a deep amount of thought to any given issue - she was somewhat influenced by ancient Earth philosophers that she spent some time observing. In battle, she fights almost like a ninja, and she's learned how to use her abilities to discover weak points of enemy fusions in order to disorient and destabilize them. I think she'd also be one of Bismuth's closest friends, and I could see her being involved with redeeming her.
One of the reasons I like this idea is that I see it introducing a new Gem type, while providing both a good and bad version of said Gem at what I think would be around the same time (Snowflake could be introduced through flashbacks at first, before getting healed of corruption somehow).
I also mentioned early an idea for Steven to be captured and transported to Homeworld - I was imagining Obsidian Prime being the one to do so.
(Also, it's taking all my strength not to reserve to these guys as 'The Obsidian Order'. I wonder if there are any DS 9 actors who might be willing to play a role here...)
Anyone have any thoughts?
Oh God! Natural light!Maybe he didn't inherit it until later or maybe it was further from Rose than he'd prefer
Forever liveblogging the AvengersHmm...not a bad idea. Kind of wanted Snowflake to be more sympathetic, though. Maybe that could be part of her backstory?
Anyway, glad you liked it!
The Rubles could've sent them back to Earth before leaving.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

Maybe Peridots are falling rock proof because that's a common occupation hazard working in the Kindergartens.
Oh really when?
