I think it would make more sense to have maybe some of the Diamonds grieving Pink Diamond's death and other Diamonds not caring as much. Like, maybe Yellow Diamond doesn't really give a crap, but White Diamond does? (Or maybe the other way around, since Yellow Diamond really hates Earth, Pink's death could be why.)
When we're done, there won't be anything left.If any of the Diamonds don't care from an emotional standpoint, I reckon it's White. She appears to be the oldest and the most powerful, judging by her number of colonies and apparently holding Homeworld. Which makes me think she is going to be the worst.
Yellow definitely cares, hence her desire to see Earth dead.

But they see organic life all the time, presumably. They're a heavily militarized, expansionist society, and likely one that was artificially created. They've probably encountered many organic species, and wiped them out and colonized their planets. From that standpoint, there was nothing unique about Earth aside from it being a good place to colonize.
The only reason they have to outright destroy Earth instead of continuing colonization is rage over the loss of Pink.

I dont know what everyont here is saying, I have a REALLY hard time being convinced of good acting in english (Because its a language that makes bad acting real easy to tell) but I think Kimberly KILLED it during the corruption scene, especially the disbelief and bitter anger punctuated by her PINK DIAMOND yell, which I admit could be narmy for others, but outright weak. Nah.
Its acting like this that makes me watch this series in English first.
Also Zack was so wonderful specially "Im not manipulating,Im trying to help" was the first time Zach made me want to cry.
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.Man, that opening was like watching Gravity all over again. O_O;
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.I agree with LSBK that people are being too quick to assume Yellow Diamond's motives.
So now we essentially know the pyramid mural is depicting the conflict after Rose killed Pink Diamond. But there's still a few other mysteries about it, most notably "Who the hell made it?"

Then why the militarization? Unless they're fighting one single enemy in a stalemate, they wouldn't need to be so militarized.
And I'm not denying that YD hates organic life, she clearly does. But unless there is outright hatred for Earth specifically, there is no reason not to continue to colonize it after they (mostly) defeated the Crystal Gems. It seems that Yellow, at least, wants Earth dead as a final victory over Rose.
The hatred or contempt for organic life explains their callous colonization. Homeworld really doesn't care if they wipe out life during colonization, or outright desires to do so.

Looking at the Diamond mural designs again
I'm just now noticing that Pink only has one planet in her mural and White has the most. I'm guessing this makes WD the sort of "leader" of the diamonds? Or at the very least to most powerful.

Maybe the Diamonds fight each other? Not as a full-scale war, but instead a series of mock battles, to see who gets the new planet? Rose's Rebellion might have been the first real war in millennia. It also might explain why Yellow Diamond made the Cluster instead of some generic planet-buster bomb. She's planning for the day when the Diamonds are fighting for real.
Bismuth did say the arenas were "for important fighters to fight in", so it's probably not all the soldiers.
Still, I imagine Homeworld's weapons and soldiers go for very, very long periods without being used. I wouldn't be surprised if Eyeball is the only member of the Ruby Squad with actual combat experience.
Oh...she said "important" not "importing"...that makes a lot more sense now.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

I'd image it's going to vary by the Diamond. And, yeah, I don't see this ending with the Diamonds just making friends with Steven. Gem society needs to radically change and that can't happen with them in power.
