You are right, mang.
I don't accept the compromise.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Why does everyone assume that Pearl belonged to one of the Diamonds? The two Pearls that belong to Diamonds have been entirely monocolored, while Pearl's skin tone is white, her hair color is peach, and her clothing appears to usually be some mixture of teal, salmon, and orange-yellow. She looks nothing like a Diamond's Pearl, and insisting that she must've belonged to one of them is ignoring the overwhelming evidence that she belonged to Rose Quartz.
Besides, I can't see who Pearl originally belonged to ever being important in any capacity.
Because she's not just any Pearl, she's a fancy Pearl, in Peridot's words. It's possible she 'belonged' to Rose Quartz to begin with, but that kind of takes away a lot of Pearl's agency. If she was Rose Quartz's Pearl she probably would have just gone along with the Rebellion out of the same sense of servitude that Gems who live on Homeworld have.
Which is not necessarily bad, and not inconsistent with her character. But people want Pearl to have chosen the Rebellion, I think.
Oissu!Well, technically Pearl would belong to a Diamond since all Gems belong to a Diamond. Who she was directly owned by is another matter, but like you said, I don't see why her serving WD or PD directly would really matter.
Not necessarily, I'd image allegiance to your Diamond, or likely any of the Diamonds, would out way allegiance to a Pearl's specific owner. Pearl could belong to Rose and still be making a bold move to choose here over following her Diamond.

I suspect Pearl belonged to Pink Diamond or at least worked closely with her due to Sardonyx. Sardonyx could have only existed after Pearl joined the rebellion, but you can see a Pink Diamond on her shoes. That means Pink Diamond was important enough to make a major mark on Pearl's identity even after she turned against her cause.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. It's not Unfortunate Implications if it is literally the cornerstone of all of her struggles as a character.
Pearl's whole history is probably why Rose had problems fully reciprocating her relationship with Pearl.
I don't know if Pearl was Rose's or not, I doubt it, but it's possible and I think it would be a reason for Rose to be reluctant or at least uncomfortable with Pearl's devotion due to the fact Pearls seem to be sort of made to have great loyalty to a greater gem.
Also I doubt Pearl belonged to White or any Diamond, I find it more interesting and to make more sense if Pearl was simply one of many gems out there, not everyone needs to have some big royal tie to everybody in the universe. Sometimes you're just a bystander that got lucky.
The Blog The Art"My X" is something that Gems use in deference to their superiors, and Rose is giving Pearl a choice to walk away when, if she were Rose's, she'd never have a chance. She'd dutifully follow Rose into war like a good little Pearl.
She ain't Rose's, and given both other Pearls seen so far have belonged to Diamonds, she was either Pink or White's.
Rose giving her a choice was the entire point of that scene. She gave her a choice, explicitly told her she didn't have to, and explained the consequences because...she wanted her to make her own decision.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.If Pearl was Rose's that choice wouldn't matter, because she'd follow her regardless of what Rose asked of her. Pearl is an object owned by a Gem, and Rose broke her away from that thought process.
I can either believe Pearl was inspired by her love for Rose Quartz to develop her own sense of self worth, or that Rose was a nice slave owner. Which do you think I'm gonna go with?

White, as the 'colour' of all the colours in light, could potentially have multicolour Pearls.
Oissu!
