I think that they could have a future episode where Steven dreamwalks into Jasper's subconscious. That would probably be the easiest way to have a flashback to what happened to Pink Diamond: by letting us see it through the memories of the only living character we know was there.
Only issue is, if Steven dreamwalked into the mind of a corrupted gem, couldn't that corrupt him as well?
Bismuth was acting out of desperation and frustration for not making progress in the war. When you're in a conflict and for ma camaraderie with these people and watch them be cut down around you by the enemy you start to wonder if what you're doing is working and if maybe the measures your taking aren't drastic enough. She was feeling hopeless because her friends were dying, you can't call that spite, it'd be extremely dishonest to do so and disservice to her character.
And really you want to assume that after running through cutting down gems left and right they'd suddenly stop at Sapphire at say "hey, we'll keep this one here" when Sapphire explicitly future vision'd that she would be poofed and the only reason why she didn't was because our Ruby interfered.

The Blog The ArtI felt it was a combination of frustration at the fact that she was losing her friends and also the fact that she genuinely hated the authorities at homeworld for treating other gems as expendable, and the former fed into the latter until Bismuth was consumed by her hatred.
I actually thought Bismuth was scarier than the actual villains we've gotten in the series so far, partly because she was supposed to be on the CG's side.
I think being turned down again in the exact same circumstances as before might have triggered Bismuth into having a panic attack, and that's why she attacked so suddenly and thought Steven was Rose. Especially since she was crying partway through and so clearly didn't want to get bubbled again, she'd prefer to die over being bubbled.
As for Smoky Quartz, I wish Steven's clothes would integrate better into his fusions. I mean I understand it's their first time fusing, and Garnet's clothes were pretty haphazard the first time, but as the design is right now I really don't like how Steven's clothes work into it.
Oissu! You could make the argument his body is also real (as in flesh) and yet manages to integrate with the hard light forms of the gems.
Also, his fusions are showing those clothes to be of the Magic Pants variety.
Oissu!Yeah, I kind of wish they hadn't started the trend with Stevonnie integrating his clothes, instead of magically mixing it into a new design or something. It limits potential designs of new fusions a lot IMO.
I thought Sardonyx was way more creative, because she looks so different from the original gems she formed from.

Considering that Garnet was good freinds with Bismuth pretty much indicates that Bismuth already knew both Ruby and Sapphire and the fact that they were already turncoats. But yeah, I doubt she would have ever given someone like Peridot a chance.
Same with Bismuth, that also died down because people really liked her character.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMUI'm not sure about Peridot. Bismuth showed disdain for "upper-crust" gems, a mere Peridot (especially one who was later shown to be acting out of fear) might have been okay. But I agree, if she didn't know Sapphire beforehand I doubt Bismuth would have hesitated to shatter her.
I didn't like Sardonyx's design much, because it was so different, but I was endeared to it after meeting her character.
