Deus Exit Machina is probably the trope you're thinking of.

Y'know, on reading the description, that trope does seem more fitting for this show. Sorry, Xander.
Every time, I have to edit the number of arrows.

"The cruelest thing you can do to an artist is tell them their work is flawless when it isn't." -Ben "Yahtzee" CroshawWhen was Brooks said to have been doing more recording? If it was recently, then it'll be a damn long time until we hear what she recorded.
What are their reasons? I've never even pretended to know that, though I vaguely remember Dapper Mammoth making an educated guess back when he still posted here.
Speaking of "what trope is this", I'm trying to figure out the best trope fit for how Steven described his life in this episode:
brb, getting my hatchet
Nobody really denied that possibility...they still don't have the mind to do it, so this changes nothing.
Jaspee never using the phrase "My Diamond" doesn't really work as foreshadowing...she was never in direct conversation with YD. That's an addressing phrase.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Pearl's VA posted selfies from inside the recording booth, and one of the people there is Kimberly Brooks, Jasper's VA. She wouldn't be there unless she's recording lines for episodes. The timing of the selfies indicates that this is during the recording for season 4.
Kimberly Brooks also responded to a tweet asking about season 4 and the end of season 3, and her response heavily implied that she had recorded dialogue for them both.
Also, looks like my theory that Pink Diamond was in charge of the military seems to have evidence supporting it. My theory:
Pink Diamond was in charge of military.
Yellow Diamond was in charge of technology, and took over military after Pink Diamond became indisposed.
Blue Diamond is in charge of history and culture.
White Diamond serves to veto the other Diamonds and keep them in check.
Actually PD was in charge of dying.
She was SIB, supposedly.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's not as explicit as the selfie from a while back, but a few days ago someone asked Kimberly Brooks if Jasper was going to get redeemed in late season 3/during season 4. Her response was "I really hope so!"
Considering the fact that they're already quite a ways into recording season 4 (if they aren't done with it already), she knows what happens to Jasper during it, she just can't actually say it because it'd be spoiling the show. Whether or not Jasper gets redeemed though, we know she's appearing again.
The most interesting thing this episode told us about Jasper her whole strength and failure issues didn't start with losing to Garnet and getting nommed by Lapis. She appears to have been dealing with seeing herself as a failure and not good enough (and projecting that onto other people) for millennia, which kind of makes me want to see her and Pearl have a heart to heart conversation.
I don't doubt that we'll see her in flashback episode, though I don't know who the character would be that could tell Steven the story besides Jasper herself. Maybe her and Rose were even friends and sisters in arms, until Rose switched sides - it would explain her obsession with exacting revenge on her.
Also, I totally want fanart of Jasper and Kevin 11.
Friends? That might be a little too much, Jaspee doesn't need friends...she only needs to be perfect and respectable.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Now she doesn't, sure. But in the beginning, before the war and the failure and the self loathing, when she was born with only the loyalty of the Quartz and the allegiance of her battalion to know, maybe she did have allies she was close to and even friends with.
I'd really like Jasper's backstory to be set up like the perfect tale of a heroic warrior destined from birth to defeat the biggest threat to everything: praised and adored as a Gem among Gems, bringing together a squad of handpicked allies/friends, dealing with the inevitable betrayal of the shifty party member, charging into final battle for to save all that (to her) is good and just... except of course, she's the bad guy, so in the end she loses and the traitor becomes the Big Good.
On an unrelated note, by having character who uses a yoyo as a weapon this series has officially gone from super-great to super-duper-great. Just a few more milestones until wombo-great.

Looking through a bit of yo-yo weapon history, unsurprisingly it is a lot commoner than I thought it wasn't. Mostly anime, go figure.
Unless she was somehow defective, I really don't see self-loathing being a thing...and failiure of what?

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Okay, guys, I know a lot has happened and there is plenty to speculate and stuff. But. Can we take a moment and appreciate Peridot? She's just so happy to be on Earth, and she's so sweet to everyone. She's honestly nicest Gem after Steven. Watching her get along him Lazuli and make art, and show it to her friends with such excitement... it just melts my heart. Our little dorito went such a long way.
She finally poofed something, that's something of worth. Extremely lucky that Jaspee loses all that durability after becoming a corruption gem.

It's nice to see that represented realistically. You can have good days, bad days, bad days where you're still able to laugh or joke, etc.
