That's quite the thing to say.
Consider Randomness curious as well.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm thinking that might be the case. It's not necessarily Centipeetle, but Nephrites could easily have the role of ship pilots/captains.
Oh God! Natural light!Originally I thought Centipeetle was a part of the construction class, but that turns out to be the role of Bismuths.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing. But it was a ship captain...

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah, I think she's Nephrite. Her coloring matches, in gemstone mythology among many other things, they're associated with enduring pain, fatigue, mental clarity, inspiring dreams to others, and most importantly of enduring infections. Also, along with that quote, her flashback and the ship match up with what Pearl said in "Friend Ship" that those were the first to scout and land on Earth before the war, even before Warp Pads were built.
Since she has the same crew of corruption, it's a safe bet, though not a full one yet, that they're also of the same type. Which means it's fair to say Nephrites are scouting parties and pilots.
I saw Centipeedle's Gem's function as being less captains in general and more as colonists and explorers - kind of like those scout units you make early on in 4X games. Their job is to scout out new planets and make early settlements for later expansion.
It fits pretty well, especially since going by what we see Centi's backstory they can fight but clearly aren't made for it.
I think that goes for most Gems.

MASTER OF MAGNET
Tuxedo Pearl. She's not going to throw that rose
It would be kind of awkward
Human Bismuth
His head is swollen with wisdom
Garnet dressed up as bigger fusions
Animation error
Temple cake
The real reason why Bismuth has to stay bubbled
I guess Jasper fused with a corrupted Gem?
Another Bismuth
Stay determined, captain!

I read this
and I'm wondering if the situation is less oops-Rose-forgot-about-Bismuth and more oh-shit-what-if-Garnet-and-Pearl-think-Bismuth-was-right?
I want to believe that Rose popped into Lion to store some stuff one day and saw the Bismuth bubble and just had a moment where she froze and thought shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Forever liveblogging the AvengersWell yeah, when she put that tape in, she saw the bubble. In fact, probably almost every time she went in there, she had to see Bismuth, locked in that moment of hatred. I get the feeling that really ate at her for thousands of years.
Imagine the anxiety of that, when us humans find habits and avoidance hard to break.
Also my friend pointed something interesting out. What if Bismuth didn't know the Gems still had partial consciousnesses? It probably wouldn't have stopped her, but only folks like Steven, Rose, and the modern Crystal Gems have interacted with these shards long enough to see that they're more than a battery, they're living things stuck in eternal hell.
Poor Bismuth, she'd have gone nuts if Steven would've taken her to the Cluster.
Getting shattered and dying need further explanation...because seriously, Gems should know when they die and what happens when they get shattered.
If Gem shards still retain partial consciousness...there has to be a reason for it, it can't happen every time. If it does happen every time, Bismuth should've known that and her Sexy weapon should've been built around that knowledge.

Together they form a conscious being, apart they're just zombies
If she did know about the leftover consciousness, then I'm assuming she planned on collecting those scattered limbs and melting them.
Still...should've had a better weapon.

Heh I know for sure who Centi is. I won't say it if anyone doesn't want to know, but it's pretty obvious from recent episodes.
