Randomness knows how to talk around spoilers, alright.
Rosey wasn't special enough for them to nuke it all.
The temple was already there...bases were already there.

I guess it's possible that, like, Rose just ended up poofing Gems instead of bubbling them. Holding them captive for all of eternity seems kind of messed up, but then you can't win a war by giving your enemies a time out.

Better to hold them captive than to just leave them on the war front. Thas just stoopid.

Right here, actually. Needs more love.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? When the Homeworld Gems wanted to keep a Gem from reforming, they stuck them in an object, like Lapis. So even if the Crystal Gems couldn't bubble the enemy, they could just stick them on something. They could bedazzle the temple walls!
Speaking of which, I know bubbled Gems are basically unconscious, but what about Gems trapped like Lapis? Was her mirror simply enchanted for interrogation, or would a Gem stuck to the refrigerator be equally aware? The Gem at the lighthouse could react to people, but it seemed a little out of it. And what about the Desert Glass?
Poofed Gems aren't aware of things around them remember...the only thing they can do is reform and choose how long it takes to reform.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Oh. Since we're talking about fanfiction I'm just going to put out this idea that I had. This nugget of an idea formed back when I saw "Space Race," but with Peridot's redemption arc and Bismuth coming out it's more or less obsolete now.
Steven was going to find an old member of the Crystal gems, never worked out the how, maybe finding a Gem that was cracked? And the reason she didn't reform was because she was waiting for Rose to find her and heal her? Anyway her name is Feldspar, and she has something of a history with Pearl. See, Feldspar was a tactician who developed a lot of battle plans back in the day, but she often clashed with Rose about strategies. While Pearl absolutely worshiped the ground Rose walked on Feldspar had no illusions about Rose being perfect. Feldspar would begin trying to push the Gems into readying for another battle with Homeworld and insist on building a spaceship so that they could go to other planets and find out the state of the Gem Empire, possibly find more allies for them. So she would begin building a ship with Pearl, and they would constantly bicker. At one point Pearl says, "It never ended for you, did it?" "The war? No." Also, Feldspar is intrigued by Steven's existence since nothing like him has ever existed before. In order to learn more she actually goes up to Greg and demands he tell her all the details about Steven's conception. There was going to be a part where she steals a jet from the U.S. military. Well, technically two, since during the theft of the first jet she realizes, "I don't know how to fly this thing!" and crashes it. Then the story ends with the spaceship being completed and Feldspar taking it when Pearl's back is turned. Pearl finds a letter written by Feldspar saying that she'd be better off doing this solo, leaving Pearl to say "She's a- a- a-" "Giant butt?" Steven suggests helpfully. Pearl sighs and agrees. "Yes Steven. She's a giant butt."
So that's the basic outline for the fanfiction that I was going to write, but a lot of this is old news now what with Pearl and Peridot's giant robot fight and the Bismuth episode.
Really? Because the wiki
says it's just embedded in the pillow like Lapis's mirror. I know wikis aren't always accurate, but Steven Universe is usually pretty good.
Bubbled Gems are unaware, sure. Peridot and Bismuth both had no idea how much time had passed. Lapis was very much aware, but that was the whole point of the mirror. The Desert Glass varied between reacting to Steven's attempts to grab it and making random walls and stairs. The pyramid Gem just seemed to be powering the traps without any concern about the Crystal Gems. The lighthouse Gem wanted to eat Lars.
If Gems are placed inside things then they can't exactly decide when to reform.
Randomness is specifically talking about poofed gems that aren't bubbled or embedded in anything.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, I was talking about restraining Gems if you don't know how to bubble them. Bubbling is just stasis, but being embedded in an object seems more like an And I Must Scream situation.
