Regarding the episode itself, it followed a pretty standard plot line ( New guy is awesome at everything, new guy turns out to be kinda bad),

That reminds me, another reason I was suspicious is because the promo reminded me of all those series that have an old friend show up, and the characters are overjoyed to see them. But then it either turns out that they aren't the person they thought they were, or they changed.

As to Bismuth, my impression is that we're supposed to disagree with her methods while still sympathizing with her viewpoint. A lesser story would've just played her off as "She wants to kill people! She's craaaaazy!", but we've seen what Homeworld's like, so I think it's understandable why Bismuth thought they had to shatter Gems to win.

Even if Rose is meant to be in the right, I wouldn't put it past this show to point out that the moral high ground often has a pretty high price to pay.

It also reminds of Full Metal Alchemist. Ed and Al were steadfast in their never kill policy, but doesn't mean were supposed to automatically think that anyone who was willing to kill was evil or wrong.

The weapon probably wouldn't have resulted in any significant lead for the Crystal gems unless they were somehow able to get to a Diamond and assassinate her, but I'm now convinced they didn't know about the Diamonds' weapon, or Bismuth likely wouldn't have come to the conclusion they could have gone back to Homeworld and overthrown said Diamonds.

Plus, Rose pretty much kidnapped a fellow rebel. And not just any rebel, but the armorer who made all of the Rebellion's weapons. She passed judgement on Bismuth, and never told any of Bismuth's friends. That's pretty sketchy, to say the least.

[up]x4 The Brigs soldiers outright destroyed any enemy forces they oppose & yet their the good guys.

Ed & Al got standards & are able to see the gray after all.

Rose prolly saw the gray too. She's really gray.

Honestly, I don't really know why stuff like this still surprises people. We already knew Rose wasn't perfect, and it was implied she hid some pretty important stuff from the others and did somethings she wasn't proud of. This is not news.

A bit of idea Horror.

One of the Gems Bismuth name-dropped was Biggs. The brown Gem Monster Jasper was using was Bigg's Jasper.

As an aside I love the little mini Crystal gems greeting the viewer when we came back from a commercial break. It was cute. And very anime.

Bismuth planned on taking the fight to HW and smack those Diamonds.

I think at the core Bismuth and Rose were fighting a different war. Rose wanted to save the Earth, Bismuth wanted to overthrow the Diamonds and the entirety of Gem society.

I wasn't as emotionally devastated by this episode, 'cause I was expecting Bismuth to turn out bad in the end.

But man.

So did it just get confirmed that Rose was made on Earth, or are people just assuming that from what Bismuth said? It was kinda weird wording.

I don't think we can confirm anything about Rose yet.

As Bismuth herself said, Rose lies.

I knew Rose had her faults, but taking out a beloved member of the Crystal Gems without ever telling a soul is pretty hardcore.

I'm wondering if Rose was afraid that the other Crystal Gems would agree with Bismuth, and that's why she kept it secret.
