Nope. In fact, someone on tumblr
pointed out that the Gems are likely different types of Jasper.
I can't remember if anyone pointed this out, but at the end of Lapis's flashback in "Same Old World", we see an expanding circle of light made up of three segments corresponding to the color of the Diamonds. Probably our first look at the corruption weapon.
Most important point from Greg the babysitter is that gems are artificial constructs rather than evolved living creatures. Therefore they have no conception of childhood and so no Moral Event Horizon about brutally violating it.
Finally finished rewatching all of the episodes up to "Steven Floats". It was good to get a refresher course on everything that's happened up to this point, and to remember some of my earlier theories that I had forgotten about.
Between binging the show and the current airings, it's almost too much Steven to take. And it sounds like the worst is yet to come.
Amethyst's eye is definitely supposed to be squinting.

Interesting posts; but I'm not worried about Jasper at all. I'm 90% certain Jasper is getting a redemption arc. Not now and maybe not even soon - but eventually. Especially due to being drawn even by people who work on the show with the CG. I'm thinking Yellow Diamond will eventually decide to come herself due to all the failed missions, and will have no tolerance for Jasper's repeated failures and obsession with fusion, deciding to have her shattered. Forcing Jasper to work with the CG.
The Diamonds are the ones who are going to be complete villains. I really don't want them redeemed. Interesting and complex, sure, but still villains.

Really liked those Lapis/Jasper analysis. I immediately interpreted Jasper talking about Lapis as powerful and dangerous as Jasper trying to complement her destructive power while watching the episode, and thought that was obvious.
Also, I guess we have confirmation that there is something wrong with Amethyst's eye, and that wasn't supposed to be an animation quirk.
I think, since my mom isn't home, I'm going to watch some Steven Universe.
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdAfter finally catching up with the thread one of the things I wanted to say incessantly was why on earth people seemed to think Amethyst was going to have some betrayal storyline going for her. The idea seemed ludicrous and out of character for her but it was some inexplicably prevailing theory.
Next on the agenda, I don't know if Jasper will get redeemed or not, I have no particular stakes in it either way, I just always seemed that if she joined the good guys it would be because she is pretty much exactly like all the Vegeta comparisons people have made. In the sense that it's not that she's "turned good", it's just she had to ally with the good guys for something and just never turned back but never stopped being antagonistic nor a jerk but was basically going through some weird inertia.
I originally thought it would happen as a unifying move against the Cluster becuase now that Jasper is stuck on Earth she wants to stop the cluster becuase she's now one of the idiots living on the planet that would be destroyed should The Cluster form.
Obviously that didn't happen but it is along the lines how I think Jasper's "redemption arc" might go if she doesn't acquire a conscience.

. The Amethyst arc is going well. The episode was a lot lighter than I thought it would be. Steven continues to progress with using his powers , which is awesome to see. However, seeing Steven at this level really makes me want to see Rose in a full battle flashback using all her skills. The short clips they've showed of Rose fighting haven't been enough. If Steven is this good now, Rose must've been amazing. I can understand why Jasper was feigning to fight her.

An interesting analysis about Jasper.
(I know Smokey posted this earlier, but this one has some additional commentary that I thought was interesting.)
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
