Yes, obviously. None of hcobb's s are serious. Few of them are funny.

Yes it would...which is why he didn't want to do it to Perry winks in "Message Received".

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So, Matt Burnett described Jasper as being a combination of the Magic The Gathering archetypes W/B/R. I don't know if B is referring to Black or Blue, but the important ones are Red and White for what I was thinking about.
Red is impulsive, aggressive, passionate, and chaotic. That fits Jasper to a T.
White is order, life, and healing. Order fits Jasper's devotion to Homeworld's rules of how gems are supposed to behave according to their purpose (so her rant about why the Crystal Gems are all flawed in The Return, plus her breaking speech to Amethyst in Crack The Whip).
If you look at what Jaspers, as a gemstone, represent, it's strength (check), energy (check), passion (check), courage (check), and increasing one's health and life force.
So, twice the idea of healing and life comes up in relation to Jasper. Inreally wonder how that'll come into play. Maybe she has some form of healing powers as well?
B is Black, because Black is the selfish colour and takes B and L for itself. U is blue. Which is why I believe Jasper to be primarily motivated by rage and selfishness, Red and Black's prime traits.
When White is combined as a colour with Black and Red in MTG lore it's usually in the form of order, making Jasper a Knight Templar.

Maybe that has to do with how tanky she is, because she's din-dang durable.
Edit: Oh, Magic, so that's what the heck Matt was talking about. I had no idea what those acronyms were when I read that interview. Thanks for that.
Edit 2: After a bit of brush up reading to confirm Color meaning... W/B/R could definitely work as Jasper's "alignment" from the way she's acted throughout her appearances. She's brash, passionate, zealous, cruel, and absolutely assured in herself and her worldview... But the core of that [toxic and at least half-misplaced] self-assurance is rooted not in her own worth in and of itself, but her worth to the world and order she is a part of. Jasper commits her cruelty and selfishness in the name of righteousness, because what she does is fundamentally "Being A Quartz" and acting in such a manner must surely serve her granted station in the great work she's a part of.
After all, she is a Quartz, and among the other traits a Quartz is "Meant To Have" according to Peridot is loyalty. And as Gems are at least "meant" to pop out the ground already knowing their purpose in life, that means being born loyal to the Gem Empire and the Diamonds, to an even greater extreme than most Gems... What better than in-born, unquestioning loyalty to breed absolute assurance that, as long as you do what you were made for, that you will always be righteous?
I wonder what Jasper thought when she was ordered to flee from Earth? If she looked back as the Diamond's "song" covered the planet? If she allowed herself to think on the troops and comrades she no longer had? Or who the Gem Monsters she's enslaved used to be?
I have no doubt she hasn't spared a thought for any of it, and wouldn't want to. It's probably easy for her, because, after all, that's not what a Quartz "Is Meant To Do."
Meanwhile, I'll just nervily relink this drawing what I made
◊ because I want someone to validate me dang it.

I saw that before, and thought it was decent, but forgot to reply because there were pages left for me to read before I could.

Forget Jasper.
Who's excited for Amethyst development? Because this is like the first time I'm excited about what they might do with the character going forward. And for someone like me who mostly felt "meh" on most of her episodes, that impresses me.

More self-esteem issues...nothin' new here.
Still great.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I've always felt Amethyst kinda took a backseat in the character development department due to her young age so it's good to see how she's being affected by all of this Homeworld stuff.
,
I do hope she can move on her self-esteem problems though. I agree that every time she gets a focus episode it usually recycles the same broad issue. Meanwhile Pearl's had her own self-esteem issues from being a Pearl, her inability to let go of Rose, her pathological need to be in a relationship, and so on.

They obviously were going to do something with it...the bar just wasn't set high for her issues.

They did the same thing with Pearl...except even more.
They've only focused on Amethyst's issues in 5 episodes...6 episodes now and getting a continous arc.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I really liked all the characters'...characterization in this episode. First time I was actually interested in Stevonnie! Lion was there! Jasper seems to be doing well for herself as an Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain . She's just as entertaining as Peridot was as a villain. This is already worse than the Peridot arc though, just catch her and force her into being your friend already. Amethyst being Amethyst x 10, but girl, that new outfit is just ratchet. I liked Jasper and Amethyst's interactions. They were almost sisterly for a second, until they weren't. Jasper used to be bigger. The art in this episode was really, really different. Also Lion was there.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.Ratchet? You mean wretched?
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I can see it. The idea of Amethyst becoming Jasper's apprentice is pretty interesting, and I'd love to see where it goes/if it'd open up any doors for future character development.
