I'd question whether that should still be considered a lot of insight, regardless of whether or not it's more insight than most other people. People who work on tie-in comics tend to not have much in connection with people actually involved in the series a tie-in comic is attached to. There's a reason why most series ultimately ignore them, for better or for worse.
The fact that she thinks having Jasper remain villainous as akin to "throwing her under a bus" shows pretty well that, if the Crewniverse do decide to press forward with a villainous arc for Jasper (which is looking more and more likely), she doesn't really have much insight on their characterization process at all - the Crewniverse is made up of people who, both in this show and in other shows they've worked on, clearly know the value of villains as characters and value those villains' potential well.
They're not the kind of people who think of villains as poor/trash characters who can't have complex or relateable characterization simply for not being heroes, and frankly there's a reason why people who think that way aren't writing for this series.

Also, if the character is done well and with complexity, which they apparently want to do, then you shouldn't feel betrayed regardless of which route they take.
I hesitate to write that, as I don't like telling people how they should or shouldn't feel, but complexity and depth don't necessarily equal good and shouldn't be conflated as if they're the same thing.

I don't typically talk about stuff here, but damn if I haven't been waiting to see how Stevonnie handles themself in a fight for like a million years probably, and I seriously didn't think that first fight would really be against Jasper of all Gems. They've consistently been the biggest and coolest surprise to me since I came into this series from the moment they first, well, came into being. After the mild disappointment I had with them returning previously only because of fucking Kevin, this was terrific to see. Poor Amethyst, though. None of that is gonna end well.
But seriously, I love this kid
◊ and I am down for seeing more of them.
Thinking it's wrong for Jasper to not get a redemption arc because of the show's Rousseau Was Right themes, I do have to question why people always apply this to Jasper and not to the show's several other unsympathetic characters. Has anyone used the same logic to argue that Kevin or Marty or Yellow Diamond should be redeemed?

Perhaps because while they're terrible/annoying people, no one is really calling them evil. Still, I've been thinking the same thing. But considering the show does have those characters, I'm not sure why actually having Jasper stay villainous is supposed to be somehow more wrong.
Edit: Oh, wait, you also mentioned Yellow Diamond.

I was actually thinking the same thing and I leave it at that because Jasper discussion is long enough.
"Pearl-fect" wow, it sure took them long to make this pun. Were they just sitting on it this whole time? Does writers' pun game gets weak? BTW I'm surprised no one made "snow con(ni)e" pun last episode.
So, are Connie and Japer going to just pop out for the rest of the week? Because I'm okay with that.
Scene with sodas made me notice something. I know everybody called out Amethyst on her hypocrisy in "Going Too Far", but most of time Amethyst is as willing to laugh at others pain (Steven being attacked by raccoon) as much as on her own ("I was hit by an airplane!") . Her status as "undercooked runt" is one exception.
And of course, wow, poor Amethyst. She can't even see that without her they wouldn't win.
As a joke...P-dot just told it like it is.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. All it means is that Amethyst is perfect except for one thing...

Her laughing at it was the messed up part, I think.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. But calling Steven abomination and other stuff was funny? Especially since joke-insult to Amethyst was combined with big amount of flattery, that often was still putting others down. "You're the only Crystal Gem, that's actually a Gem! ". When you look at it certain way
It does feel just a little unfair to blame P-dot.
Peridot was laughing at everyone, she just accidentally preyed on Amethyst's weak point, the way she deliberately did shaming Pearl and Garnet, except the both of them were or became confident enough to deal with it, and Amethyst just shut down.
Let's remember that Pearl and Garnet laughed at comparing Amethyst to a wild animal. People can be insensitive sometimes and Amethyst is both no different and also allowed to be hurt.
Like, it's a bit mitigated by the fact that the Crystal Gems obviously don't like talking about it, but other times things don't come up because it seems like Steven just has no interest in them or never thinks to ask, which makes no sense in his position.
Yeah. I get why Steven might be scared to ask, but towards the end of season 1 he decided he had to know what was coming from the Homeworld, no matter how unpleasant the answer might be. I'd like to see more of that Steven.
The great Jello Apocalypse hit the nail on the head. "Steven Universe keeps its mysterious as mysterious by having Steven ask no questions that any other human would ask. Like, where did this lion come from? Who is the evil space giraffe? Why is Armrest such a terrible person?"
"Why do I never ask follow-up questions" indeed.
You can't just have your main character constantly asking questions...sometimes curiosity will not be satiated.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. That reminds me. You guys remember when Pearl reformed, we briefly saw silhouettes of her previous forms, including her pilot design and her yet-to-be seen design from Greg's flashbacks? Originally I thought that was just a nice little easter egg, but looking at Amethyst's reformation, I'm starting to wonder if everytime a Gem takes a new form, they quickly cycle through every form they've had before.
Yes that is what happens. It happened in "Reformed" too...except they just did a close-up focus shot on it in "Crack the Whip".
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Pearl had that look from "Story for Steven" all the way back during the rebellion...and her reformation started with a form before that along with the Pilot's design, so it can't be that.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.

That just sounds more like personal bias than any real insight or influence.
But why are we still talking about this?
