Reasons I like Jasper include, but are not limited to...
-Her design. I love the colors, the square jaw, her lopsided smile, the pythons she calls arms, her voice, etc. She's big and buff and butch and I love it.
-Her history. She's the only character we've met who actually fought against Rose in the war. She could reveal a lot about Rose that the Crystal Gems won't.
-Her personality. Yeah, she's a piece of shit. She also has a sense of honor (one of the first things she did was mention that she respects Rose's tactics). She's also, as the crew said, very complex. I want to see how. They described her as White/Blue/Red in Magic The Gathering, which is an odd combo.
-She has potential. I tend to develop a liking for characters who don't get much focus at first, and I honestly couldn't tell you why. I get really overjoyed with every new piece of information we learn about them.
-Spite, somewhat. Everyone says she's awful and I shouldn't like her, which makes me like her more.
I like Alarak in SCII and he's a full-on scumbag, who's only in it to help people if something's in it for himself. I don't want him to be forgiven for all the atrocities he did to his people though to climb to the top of the chain in his culture. I like him as a character, because he's sarcastic and snide in a way that I find very entertaining, but I don't like him as a person at all.
I understand liking antagonistic characters in that vein. Where you just find their bad qualities entertaining, or you love them because you hate them. But I don't understand wanting to see them turn over a new leaf, and change their ways, because it turns them into something else entirely and completely strips away what makes those types of characters entertaining.

I myself argued that Jasper should stay a villain. But I seemed to have changed my mind for some reason.
Anyways, we agreed to not argue about this topic, so maybe we should give it a rest. I'm not a big enough fan of Jasper to be able to explain why the fandom thinks of her the way they do nor why they want certain things to happen to her character.
Oh, forgot to mention a big one: a lot of Jasper fans want her to be redeemed so badly because we want to see what she would be like post redemption. Peridot is very different from how she behaved in Warp Tour, and getting to see that same shift for Jasper would be interesting. It's why so much Jasper fanart shows her hanging out with Steven, Connie, or any of the other Crystal Gems.
And okay. I just wanted to give the main reason why her fans do want to see it happen, regardless of if it will.

That's what I'm talking about, the fans see potential in Jasper, I do too and I'm curious to see what she'd be like as a good guy. Nothing wrong with her being a bad guy but honestly I don't think the show was ever the type to focus on bad guys honestly. Someone on the last page posted a link I feel mentions what I think the show has always been about, so I'll post it again.

But that's the last thing I'm going to say on this subject for now.

I really don't see what I'm supposed to get out of that post that supports it? She's literally saying she feels trolled by the show, because everyone gets included except Jasper.
And if this post
shows anything, it's that they literally have no idea what direction the show is going to take her in.

I've actually seen a bunch of posts about that on Tumblr, so you're not the only one thinking about. It definitely does kinda seem that way.
I was referring to the "finding the good in everyone and making everyone feel included". part. I don't really know how to explain that articulately.

I don't even understand why people think they're trolling about anything or what they're exactly trolling about. That post seemed like the person was confused as to why we're not getting where they're going with the story even though we've had plenty of episodes to realized how certain things are mapped out by now and what SU is truly about, what they're trying to convey and teach us.
I agree with that. It's her best episode by far.
Read the other post I linked. They pretty much admit they literally don't even know what direction the crew is going in.
And that post wasn't about them being confused about people getting the direction they're going for. It was about them feeling trolled by "Steven Universe", the show because Jasper isn't going in the same direction as all of the other characters. Which an antagonist wouldn't.

Oh, okay. Well that being said, I kinda agree with them if they're aligned with my own thoughts. But I dunno, that post confused me honestly.

Then they wouldn't know the meaning of being trolled. And even if it's going against where they thought Jasper would go that doesn't mean it can't go in their favor eventually. People are so quick to assume things aren't going the way they'd like and just aren't patient enough to wait and see what steps the creator/writers intends to take towards their goal.

If you're getting hate from people for liking or enjoying villains (especially if you're not a member of a Misaimed Fandom), then what's most likely really happening is you're talking to people who don't really get what villains are.
Or it could just be the darker side of the fandom's noticeable problem with demonizing characters for one reason or the other.
We shouldn't avoid making complex and likeable villainous characters simply because some people will miss the point and get too extreme about hating them. Literature and art in general would be pretty crappy if people wrote villains for the point of view that you're not supposed to understand, like or in some cases even empathize with them.

Okay, the woman who made those posts that were linked is a storyboard artist who works at CN, and has also worked on the official SU comics. As a result, she has more insight into the show than most people who post about it.
And she was saying in her posts that
A) She thinks it'd be very odd that SU (a show about diversity and love and finding the best in people) would throw the one big, masculine looking woman under the bus and declare her too evil for redemption.
B) If the crew do decide to do that, she'd add Jasper to the pile of characters she identifies with who get that treatment.

I can't help but feel there's some deja vu going on, because I could've sworn there was a lot of arguing over whether Peridot or Lapis would join the CG's.
And I'm not saying that to be snide, I do remember some arguing about it. Hell, I was one of the people arguing that Peridot should stay a villain.
