Yeah, Jasper is still trying to hurt Steven. In this case emotionally, with the knowledge that she's taking these gems and he can't stop her.
Does Jasper still think Steven is the same Rose from the war (in which case she's going for extra cruelty by showing off Rose's comrades), or is she just calling him "Rose" because that's his gem, all gems just use their gem as their name, and she's never been formally introduced to him as Steven?

I have a message from another time...She's calling him "Rose" because he has her gem and powers, she doesn't care what they call him. She knows he's different, but he's still technically Rosey.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Nobody has told Jasper that Steven isn't Rose. He had to explain to Peridot that he's half human and half gem, and iirc Lapis has just always accepted him as Steven without caring what he is.
Jasper thought he was Rose in a small, Ruby like form, and was disgusted by it. Now she knows he's weaker than during the war, but nobody has told her that he isn't actually Rose. As far as Jasper has been told, it's her old war rival still.
Kay, so, I came across this comic
and it made me wonder, what if Greg HAD fallen in love with Garnet? What would have happened to Steven if a pregnant Garnet had defused?
Do you think there were humans fighting on Rose's side during the war all those years ago?

I don't think Garnet would have ever reciprocated. "Three's a crowd", and all.
Ancient humans fighting alongside Gems? An interesting idea, but it seems a just a little above their tech level...

Oh God! Natural light!I definitely think so. Maybe not in an official capacity, but humans are too... human to sit out of a war of dominion. Particularly when one side would casually exterminate you.
Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men
x4 I suppose that's true, but Homeworld still had technology that surpasses even that of the humans today.
Either way, I think that Gems are likely more than a match for humans. I suppose that they could have fought, but I doubt they would have done especially well.

Oh God! Natural light!Remember, Pearl did get the concept of 'knighthood' from humans. That was likely after the war, but the Crystal Gems did learn things from the humans. Also, it just feels... wrong to have a civil war over Earth's independence fought purely by aliens.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but it seems to be that we haven't really gotten any indication that it was anything more than Gem vs. Gem.
I suppose part of me wonders how Rose came away with such a positive view of humans, which leads me to believe that this alternate history goes back considerably further than the Gems' arrival.
Maybe.

Oh God! Natural light!Yeah, I mean at least the Transformers had humans join the one side. Granted we're talking modern day humans in that contest, but I have a hard time imagining humans back then just sitting back and letting an alien race conquer the planet.
I'm glad Jasper has a plan of some kind now. For so long she was just stuck as Malachite, I'm glad she's doing something on her own.
"Lots of gems died, people too."

Oh god.
