I don't think she's ever not going to be creepy with those teeth and that smile...just lay it on thicker, writers.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. My thoughts on it is they both liked being strong. Jasper obviously loved being able to fly, and probably loved being a hulking monstrosity able to take on a four gem fusion on equal footing. Lapis said she enjoyed taking out her frustrations on Jasper, probably because for once she had some measure of control over something in her life.
I still don't like when people say they were equally to blame though when Jasper forced her to fuse to begin with (I don't think she would have accepted a no for an answer back then either). Fusion is not a toy, Jasper.
Oissu!Jasper confirmed for masochist?
Also, that conversation they had reeked hard of some blowhard boyfriend trying to convince his ex that he's changed his outlook, with no evidence to the contrary.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMUThe stuff about Lapis's origins and Rebecca Sugar's history with abuse is worth noting.
Lapis did do wrong. However, she recognizes she did wrong and feels bad about it. Jasper calls Lapis a monster, tries to isolate her, and overall indulges in some very scummy behaviour for the sake of power. And then tries to kill Steven. They're both feeling Stockholm Syndrome to some degree but I find it a lot harder to care about Jasper's mental state when she's the cause of all her own problems right now.
Oissu!I'm glad they didn't turn Lapis into a saintly martyr or anything. It helps dispel the notion of "perfect" victims, before and after their abuse. Plus it's important to acknowledge that a lot of abused people go on to become abusers themselves because of their experiences. Real life isn't that black-and-white.
The one way I can see Jasper getting redeemed right now is if she somehow gets hurt or something, and Steven heals / saves her. teaching her that strength isn't everything, and that small things can help someone bigger / stronger than them. Then Steven gets in trouble and she saves him back for a Makes Us Even moment.
Basically a moral in the vein of The Lion and The Mouse
.

It's also the obvious route too.
I know, it's just frustrating having your favorite character show up for brief bits of time, only to be launched into the distance for another 20 episodes. I'm just waiting for the day that she actually gets her own episode.

I highly doubt her redemption will involve kindness from Steven now. The kid hates her as much as he hates Kevin.

I can definitely see that happening. I think she'd definitely need to be hurt or weakened in some way. I mean, the only reason Peri was able to be redeemed was because she was basically defanged due to the loss of her limb enhancers. As long as Jasper is a threat, she can't really be redeemed, so I'd imagine her being hurt and then saved by Steven would be the best way to go about starting her redemption.

When we're done, there won't be anything left.![]()
I admit it was kinda hilariously awesome to see Jasper get punched into the distance.
Yeah, the only way I see her getting redeemed is on her own. I'm actually hoping that we'll get a 'Zuko Alone'-styled episode with her.

GUNDAMU GUNDAMU

Damn, that abusive relationship subtext between Lapis and Jasper... holy shit. One thing's for sure, Malachite was definitely not healthy for either of them. It scarred both of them in different ways, and I think Jasper has Stockholm's Syndrome or something!
When we're done, there won't be anything left.
