They really were being indiscriminate in using that corrupting weapon.
Their ship didn't take off in time.

I wonder if each individual Gem takes the same form when they're corrupted, or if it depends on how it happens.
The illustration suggested Centipeetle's crew were a different type.

Speaking of which, anyone notice the gem that had Sonic the Hedgehog's head?

I'm so happy to be wrong. My heart...

So fan artists have a template to work from now, for a more accurate portrayal of non-corrupted Centi (cute nickname). This did just make me wonder where the term 'Centipettle' came from. Did the gems think of it or was there a previous precedent?

For such an amazing, heartfelt episode, it's too bad the art was Season 1A-tier.

Was it because Amethyst's facial expressions resembled those from "An Indirect Kiss"? I can tell since I rewatched that set of shorts yesterday...in preparation.

It looks like a Centipede beetle...so that's what they called it, it's the only corrupted gem they gave a name to besides the Slinker.

I thought they were the same type of gem, but our Centipeedle was the captain so she used a showier form.

So some kinda Gem Brown Note?
Yes.

Here's Steven's exact wording:

That simply won't do, writers. I'm not watching this block and expecting to walk away feeling upbeat. You guys better stomp my heart flat in the future, or we're gonna have words.

I mean, the soul-crushing episodes almost always have happy endings.

Steven healing MC Bear Bear at the beginning seemed like a clear response to the confusion over whether Steven's healing powers work on nonliving things.

And yeah, Humanoid Centipeetle was weirdly adorable, especially when she crossed her arms grumpily due to Steven not understanding her writing.[lol]

Aww poor Centi. At least the ending was more sweet than bitter. Too bad we didn't get her real name, since apparently she's able to write pretty well.

Amethyst's face...Pearl's Lemongrab nose...just the whole style, whoever the head artist was. They're not...quite as good...as others...whereas the animation has come a very long way in most other episodes from season 2 onwards.

Centi was done very cute though.

No, but I did see a Ruby's cube head.
You could also see she had a square on her fist representing her gauntlet.

[up]x4 My guess is that she's Emerald

[up]x7 I also recall that from a interview with one of the V As that YD has song coming up, so given the information we've gotten from this episode I'm hyped for a possibly weaponized Villain Song.

Oh, feel like I should have mentioned this in the first place, but it was nice to finally get more info on Gem Corruption after they introduced that point in an episode that aired two years ago and then basically ignored it. >_>

So the fourth diamond was already taken off Homeworld's insignia by the rebellion's end. I wonder if they left anything on Earth with those markings—that might explain where Ronaldo found out about the three-diamond emblem.

I think all of us basically guessed roughly but more or less accurately how the corruption happened. No surprises there. evil grin

p.s. Dee Bradley Baker (Centi's voice) is my hero. He does the best beast voices of anybody on the planet.

I just realized something:

The ads for Summer of Steven don't include anything past Greg the Babysitter, the episode ending this current week.

What if whatever happens in them is so big that the Crewniverse convinced CN to not use any clips from it?

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

[up][up][up][up]Well Stephen lost his powers so they couldn't really move forward with it yet.

[up]CN also has to follow the spoiler code, it makes sense.

[up]x4 So one of the Diamonds possibly betrayed the others and caused the rebellion? I guess that adds fuel to the "Rose/Lion is Pink Diamond" theory.

[up][up]Didnt stop them from showing that certain clip. But I guess that's probably because its minor compared to what may be coming...

Really, it's not that much of a difference. It was already unlikely that whatever happened with Pink Diamond occurred after the rebellion, this just shows it wasn't at the exact end.

So that must mean that Pink Diamond defected (or was exiled, imprisoned, or crushed) at some point when the rebellion started gaining traction, and changed their logo to the triangle one between when they left Earth and the present.
