Well, I finish New lars and ...I dont like it that much, while I get he is jerk, having someone enter your mind and liking him over you feel.....awfull, or the face Steve feeling bad about it feel hollow as he didnt face anything wrong for is action(in fact, I found weird the gem where in the temple, they just asume he was really sleepy?) and I feel Lars forgave Steven to easy
On the other hand is show that Sadie really like Lars personality to extended, as he love horror movie and in a way his grumpy personality, is kind of a middle ground between improving and being yourself(to aseop that usually run againt each other)
But overall...I didnt like Steven in this episode
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
That actually sums up my reactions to the episode. Lars being a jerk we're used to, he's Lars. But Steven felt like a HUGE step back.
A step back to "Barn Mates"? That's not very far.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged Men"Bubble Buddies" is more accurate...where his naivety towards their emotions is first shown.
Or "Coach Steven" where he first suggested the marriage thing.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. He just felt... immeasurably immature throughout the entire thing.
Also, KBCW book. It's gonna be a thing.
Reading books is too hard, it seems interesting enough though.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Oh my God, that trans Lars theory is so fucking stupid. If the ridiculously slim possibility that it is indeed what the writers meant to imply about him turned out to actually be true, I'd be pissed. The show isn't nearly that subtle when it comes to the same-sex romance, so why does the transgender character have to be hidden behind a veil of obnoxiously obtuse and cryptic hints? "Lars tries too hard to seem manly THEREFORE HE MUST BE TRANS THIS IS CANON NOW."
I mean, c'mon, the reason he tore up Ronaldo's picture was obviously supposed to be that he was embarrassed at being smacked by the board and looking foolish. His physical appearance had nothing to do with it. And the post makes a big deal about him not growing stubble when he was stuck on the island, but he also didn't grow hair on his arm or legs, where it grows on people regardless of gender. It was just an art style thing. This show's art isn't 100% realistically detailed. (There's also the problem that if Lars was indeed meant to be sporting a pair of tiny female breasts when he's shirtless, the show's staff would probably get in trouble or something if they ever officially confirmed it.)
Look, I'd be thrilled to see a transgender character in Steven Universe, but I'd hope the writers would at least have the decency to, if they're not allowed to outright say it in the show, at least make it apparent to savvy viewers in some clear, unambiguous way. I don't know, put some hormone pill bottles in his bedroom. Have there be some girl clothes still hanging in his closet. Have a small picture on the wall of his house that shows Lars's parents posing with a little girl in a dress who looks suspiciously like a female Lars. (Of course, trans people generally don't like having pictures of their pre-transition selves lying around, but that doesn't stop my mom from doing it...)
And besides, if the show was going to have a transgender character, why Lars? Lars is an asshole. What kind of message is that supposed to be sending? "Being transgender will turn you into an angry socially awkward wreck." Yeah, wow, real progressive. In fact, now that I think about it, the fact that Lars's status as an angry socially awkward wreck is being used as the main "evidence" that he's trans is what pisses me off more than anything. Hey, here's a crazy idea, why don't we have a transgender character who's actually HAPPY AND WELL-ADJUSTED? CRAZY, I KNOW, BECAUSE ACCORDING TO THE MASS MEDIA, WE'RE AS RARE AS FUCKING UNICORNS.
God, I fucking hate it when people theorize about fictional characters being trans. You could basically Fan Wank any cisgender character ever into being transgender because it's very rare that a fictional work explicitly depicts genitalia and the like.
And honestly, it wouldn't really bother me if the show never includes an explicitly trans character. I've always found Garnet's "permanently fused" thing very relatable to my own experience with transitioning, especially with Jasper's and Paradot's initial reactions to it, plus the way fusing seems to make Garnet extremely happy and she says she wants to "stay this way forever." That's close enough for me, personally.
...Sorry if I'm ranting and rambling too much. I'm sleepy.
I've got Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash, Spyro, and Paper Mario fanfics....was it really necessary to go off and flip out at a simple headcanon? Like, I specifically said I hoped people could be civil about this and not make it a giant argument. If someone wants to interpret it that way, they're perfectly within their rights. You can't tell someone how they're allowed to view a character.
Yes indeed, is a terrible theory.
Always grasping at non-existant straws.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yes, because as a trans person, I find it vaguely insulting.
People can interpret characters however they want. I'm just saying this particular interpretation pisses me off.
Y'know, thinking more on it, I'd really prefer a hypothetical trans character on this show to be more like Garnet. That is, the show should emphasize how much happier they are ever since they transitioned. Steven Universe has always been a show that focuses on LGBT positivity, like Steven's crossdressing in "Sadie's Song" and, like, Garnet's entire existence.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? And, as a trans person, seeing people headcanon characters they like as trans makes me happy.
You said you see a trans analogue in Garnet, and this person sees the same thing with Lars. What makes your view of it somehow more acceptable than theirs?
Trans people can be nice, and we can be dicks. Same goes for everyone else. Lars isn't the most pleasant person, but he's not some walking piece of garbage either.

Dang, that's harsh.

I'd meant it as a joke, probably should edit that to have Joking Mode in it.
