Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. He didn't spit on Jaspee..."on screen".
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I'm trying to figure why I love "Mr. Greg" and "The New Lars" creeps me out, even though they're both about Steven trying to fix people's relationships even when the people in question haven't really asked him to get involved. I guess it's because the former involves two people who already want to improve their relationship and end up talking it through, and the latter involves mind control and no one besides Steven is willing to deal with it.
Because Stephen was blatantly forcing Larson to deal with stuff...then tried doing it himself with body swapping.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I think it's because Steven understands his father and Pearl. With Lars he's trying to force him to be what he thinks Lars is.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Hmm. I realized that 'The New Lars' felt like a step back for Steven; he showed remarkable maturity and foresight just the previous episode, and it feels like tonight's episode was stepping back into the status quo. I appreciate how quickly Sadie believed Steven, though; I hate stories where people don't believe such. Also, props to Lars's VA for convincingly being Steven for an episode.

x4 Forcing someone to change their life the way you specifically think they should, no matter how much of a Jerkass said person is, is creepy no matter how you spin it.
On the other hand "Mr. Greg" is basically just a kid trying to help his dad and pretty much surrogate mom move past the whole akwardness of thier past Love Triangle and get along better

It makes sense for characters to not believe such thing...
I think people are assuming Steven's motives are more extensive than they really were. He really was trying to get Lars to confess to Sadie, but the rest was more like Steven screwing around because he thought being Lars was so fascinating.
"Joy Ride" already showed Beach Citizens are willing to believe supernatural crap they don't personally witness if they trust the one talking about it.

He thought...but was simply just being himself in Larson's body. Though the confession thing is still wrong...he doesn't know nuts about how that should be handled.
Yeah, but characters can't just assume magic everything...also I was speaking generally, this story wasn't about trying to fix the body swap.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Just saw the latest. I actually thought it was cute. I mean, at least we got to see Lars not be a dink at the end! I thought the mind control was gonna bother me, and the whole fake confession thing was wrong (Steven was so mature about Pearl and Greg, but then again, he was similarly naiive about Lapis and Peridot) but for the most part...well, maybe it was just cute to see "Lars" making people happy.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
Maybe it just comes down to different writers having different ideas of just how exactly mature and understanding Steven is? It's not like this is one big serialized story written by one person, so it stands to reason that a character written by one writer may not act in quite the same way when written by another, which for all we know could be the case here.
